Zero. Mental illness was was a treatable phenomenon, not a political ideology. We knew a guy in Colorado was doing these surgeries because Donahue told us about it and we saw it as a very rare event and didn’t give it another thought.

The most important question is what has changed? What is the driving force with these kids? I can only speak to my little bubble, because to this day I still don't personally know anyone with gender dysphoria.
Different thread but:
1) Marxist ideology is all about subverting norms, constantly, and trying to do it at scale, encouraging people to "break tradition" and "boundaries," often for no reason then to make sure tradition doesn't exist. This is what your educators believe.
2) The Sexual Revolution made the pursuit of any sexual pleasure as the most important thing people should strive for
3) Broken people will begin to find anything to make themselves feel better, especially with a lack of great purpose ie, God
4) We decided to stop using shame as a cultural controlling mechanism to keep our darker side in check more often.
5) Media and corporations have found a variety of ways to make money off the whole mess, from creating division, to having certain kinds of products for certain kinds of people, the Pharmaceutical industry obviously, etc.
That's your roadmap.

Zero....that said, I did go to school with a few who became openly gay later on. However, they never exhibited any signs of mental illness and to this day they are all conservative for the most part

0.0 only a couple of gays that came out later as adults.

I was in high school (all male) from the mid 60's until I graduated in 70 and I can't recall ANY fellow student even claiming to be gay, much less of a different sex.
That just wasn't a thing back then and the guys that were gay were so far back in the closet that they wouldn't come out for at least another 10 years or so.

Same. Simpler times for us. Trends went from a pet rock to the Rubik's Cube/Snake.

Know personally? Two.
Aware of in the family or workplace? Three more.

Transgenderism is a fad trend like emo/goth was in the 2000s. People latch onto it because it’s popular to do and they want to fit in because they sucked at socializing.

Had one in my HS graduating class of '94. He wore wigs, makeup, and dresses every day. He was nice to people and for the most part everybody left him alone. I don't think the teachers and administrators would have tolerated him being mistreated, but we certainly didn't have any of them trying to brainwash us into celebrating him either.
He was murdered not long after graduation. Found in a ditch shot several times in the face with a .45. No one was ever charged in the killing.

Graduated in 2000. Years after graduating my mom “broke” the news he was gay. I laughed and always knew he was gay from listening to Madonna and just the way he was. Still my friend. I know 1 person who’s transgender and he always off. Was apart of sex clubs in New Orleans and when we did pre deployment training he found one in California. Ended up moving out there and is now a full fledged woman still in the military.

A liberal would tell you that society has just become more accepting and that they can now be their true selves.. or something like that before they start braying like a donkey about Trump.

I want to say almost none, but then I remember calling most of them figs.
