Can we just have a common sense talk.

States and cities are demanding you wear a mask. WHY?

Either they work or they don't.

- If they work, WHY are we shut down. Just have people wear them to work.

- If they don't... why are you forcing people to wear them? Why are DRs and Nurses wearing them...

Because contract tracing is THE solution to this issue.

Just like flattening the curve.
And sheltering in place.
And testing.

"God, you stupid Trumpers. Don't you know anything? The masks don't prevent transmission but you have to wear the masks everywhere you go, otherwise you're going to responsible for killing everyone in the store. Just because you don't feel sick doesn't mean you aren't getting everyone else sick. And just because everyone else is wearing a mask, that doesn't protect them from you. That's why you have to wear a mask too. And that's why we can't open everything up. Trumpers are so dumb when it comes to science!"

Wear a mask indoors. Limit time spent indoors. Limit the density of people around you and the contact time with them. Clean your hands often. You can still catch it with a mask but it probably helps somewhat and you cant be a super spreader as easily.

Outside....chances are very slim you catch this. Every place should be figuring out a way to get outside somehow and move on with life a little differently.

Mask indoors makes sense to prevent you from sneezing or coughing as an asymptomatic carrier to a bunch of people.

Outdoor church should be the summer norm. Outdoor restaurant seating should be the summer norm. Beer gardens. Turn those parking lots into spread apart seating. Beaches and boats all good. Swimming pools probably fine. Just get into open air.

Masks aren't necessary.

If you're elderly, obese or have medical conditions that make you susceptible to death if you catch the virus, then quarantine in place and stay safe.

Otherwise, go on about your business. If you catch it, you'll be sick for a week, then move on.

This entire ordeal has been a massive waste of taxpayers dollars. Not to mention I have to listen to pussy arse bitches talk about how we need to stay home for 12 months, rent/mortgage free and getting stimulus every month.

Read this sentence again. Nonsensical.

We need a sarcasm font or something. I thought using "quotes" would help.

I guess lefties are so crazy that the post seemed plausible?

The answer is that this isn't a binary situation. Masks, assuming everyone is wearing one all the time, diminish but do not eliminate the risk of contagion. So some businesses are closed because if they were not, they'd contribute to the spread of the virus, with or without universal masking, though masking would mitigate the spread to some degree. Of course, assuming everyone is wearing one all the time is doing a lot of work in that explanation.

Incidentally, it is sort of bizarre that the folks who are most eager to "open things back up" are often the most hostile to masks, enhanced testing, and contact tracing and all of the other things that would enable said opening...

Why do you have to wear a mask if you practice social distancing?

If I’m not getting close to anyone how are they going to get my spit drops?

Because masks are being worn to not catch/spread the virus.

If you don't want to catch it, stay the frick at home.

I don't get the fear of catching it. You catch it, you get sick, you get over it.

If you're at risk of death if you catch it, then don't go out AT ALL.

I, as a 35 year old male, who has zero contact with anyone at risk of death if they catch it, should not have to stay home indefinitely.

We are wrecking the economy for NOTHING.

Masks are only necessary for close contact.

When wearing a mask, unless it's a fit tested N95, you're not protecting yourself. The surgical masks protect others against you. But again, if you're not in close proximity, it doesn't matter.

Common sense answer: It's an overreaction and probably recommended by the CDC for those times when people aren't paying attention in Lowe's or Kroger and bump into each other.

I have yet to wear one and don't plan on it.

Seems like you are saying things that are in opposition to each other. I mean, which do you want more, to have society be relatively open again or to not have to wear a mask? I ask that in the spirit of true curiosity.

I will be arrested if they make me wear one

I am not doing it

I fundamentally think it's retarded to do so...

Why is this even on the poli board?

My wife has an auto-immune disorder. We live in a building with elevators, often crowded with several people. We need to go out and buy things, run errands, etc. I would prefer people wear masks for the time being, regardless of my political beliefs.

The end.

How are those in opposition? Wanting things to re-open has zero to do with masks being worn.
