It wouldn’t change my religion. I’d support converting the aliens. Deus Vult.

That shouldn't be too difficult. We are undoubtedly the laughingstocks of the Universe

This. We’re probably the stars of some galactic reality show.

No. Whoever figures out the technology first will rule the world. As far as what it means, I believe life exists out there anyway (a big, big universe). My stumbling block are the vast distances relative to the speed of sound (light). If they have solved this I'm glad they have not come to subjugate me yet. Edit : light

This is closed-minded thinking. I'm not trying to knock what you said but we have to be open-minded to the fact that there is a very good chance that there are others out there that are far more advanced than us and have potentially discovered ways to travel thst do not rely on pysics as we currently understand them.

Just think if we went back in time to lets say the 1700s and showed someone a smart phone what do you think would be their reaction? They would probably proclaim you a witch and/or demon and burn you at the stake! Their minds would not be able to make sense of such a technology. It would be the same if we were to witness something far more advanced because our current view on technology only goes as far as what we are aware of.

It would probably be met with the same reaction Spain had when they found out the Americas existed.

"Well, do they have gold?"

Except we would be the "native Americans" in this case. Lets just hope their intentions would be different!

I for one would still believe God created all things but our view of God may be only shaped by what man has interpreted God to be. I believe if there is other life out there that God has allowed this life to come about as well and has a purpose for it.

I would think it confirms God exists. What are the chances Earth and all life on it spontaneously appeared and evolved over time? What are the chances that same process spontaneously happened multiple times?

There are a few historical films that shed light on this very curiosity. A couple that immediately come to mind are "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Back to the Future".

I believe there is life out there. Did I say there wasn’t? Why wouldn’t there be other life. As Carl Sagan said, a lot, BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of planets, stars and galaxies. There has to be life out there. But I blame the universities in this country for not teaching the proper physics. They need to up their game. We need to find dilithium crystals.

And if our military and intelligence communities know this and haven’t told us, it’s because they are trying to figure out the technology before the enemy. That’s it in a nutshell.

I would immediately look around for what they're trying to distract us from.

I tend personally to think that if a civilization beyond our comprehension exists (and I believe they do) they probably view us as the North Sentinel Island of the galaxy. I think UFOs are real, and they're monitoring us from afar.

Some would believe we are the sole existence in the universe. See below for funny but true explanation:

Why? I ask “why?” In the context of this... would putting something like aliens exist out there now be good for us or good for them (NWO, for example)?

Read “Watchmen” to get your answer on why it could be a good thing. But it could be bad as well, but this moment of disunity it would probably be a good thing to get united about something.

I don’t think most religions change their thinking. If a god created us surely he created others as well

Except that, in and of itself, is an example of them changing their thinking.

What implications would this have on humanities belief systems? Faith, evolution, or how we view our own human race? Serious question as to your thoughts on this subject

Us vs Them has a funny way of uniting humans.

Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist who worked as a subcontractor and then a consultant for the Pentagon U.F.O. program since 2007, said that, in some cases, examination of the materials had so far failed to determine their source and led him to conclude, “We couldn’t make it ourselves.”

We don't even need to go back that far to see an example. WW2 had American forces on exotic islands and the Islanders came to "worship" a deity known as "Johnfrom".

20 min vid, if you want to watch it all;

John from America

To make it even more strange and topical. He was in the form of Prince Phillip.

Can the aliens hook us up with the various cures for cancer and a way to cheaply travel quickly to anywhere on the planet. I'd like to live in the Rockies and keep my job in La.

If they can, I'm good with their arrival.

I believe life is out there, but I am highly skeptical it has visited us. If it has I would love to know how they proved Einstein wrong. The distances between solar systems are so damn vast. The Voyager spacecraft is traveling at like 10 miles per second. It will take it 70,000 years to get to the nearest star.

Astronomers are working as we speak to prove life exists out there. One way is to look at the light spectrum on other planets which can tell you what elements exist in the atmosphere. If you see ozone it's game over. Ozone can only exist with oxygen and oxygen can only exist with life. I think this is how we will discover life, and I think it will happen in our lifetimes.
