here's the thing jethro if you can't win your base you can't win the general which is why a democrat hasn't won a state wide election in texas in 32 years. you should probably stick to delivering parts for NAPA.

Why are the conservatives saying we should have compromised our values and voted for the establishment candidate to win an election the same ones praising Massie for being uncompromising and losing his seat?

What is the historical breakdown of the Indy vote vs what is expected this election?

How does TX factor the Indy vote anyway?

Please tell us all about Cronyn and Massie’s principles and how they’ve behaved the last two years. Go on

You don't think Roy Moore won his base vs Doug Jones?

The general is a different ballgame than a primary

I don't care about either. The general is about Paxton, not blaming others if he somehow loses

That has nothing to do with getting elected you're purity test for their performance in office doesn't have anything to do with them getting the majority of votes in a general

I know majority of this board wanted the Saves Act passed
I know a majority of MAGA wanted it passed that doesn't mean a majority of the voters at large even care

This basically renders all polling and by extension political dialog pointless.

Kind of unreal of you to think it’s only a small portion who want secure elections since we’ve heard it from both sides.

Yes but they're not willing to vote someone in or out because of it

the general public doesn't care as much as you do about the save act

they care about the price of gas they care about the price of food

Why is that so hard for y'all to understand

Dems primaried incumbents because they weren't socialist or antisemitic enough. Pubs primaried incumbents because of the SAVE act.

I don't think the ho hum incumbents can do no wrong attitude of the early 2000s is as alive and well as you think it is.

So 93 percent of people don't care enough about politics to choose the people they are voting on.

Is that the stat you want to mention when it comes to voting? 93 percent of voters are apathetic when it comes to making intelligent choices when it comes to leaders of their party?

This would go both ways possibly but a good point. Paxton a little too far away for some

That's actually a really good point.

It's not at all a good point because the Texas republican primary electorate is very different from the Texas general election electorate. It's an obviously dumb point.

You can argue that Paxton is better than Cornyn and Cornyn needed to go because he was a RINO.

You cannot argue with a straight face that Cornyn would be in as close a race with Talarico as Paxton is. Cornyn would have cruised over Talarico, and Talarico's only real hope is to win with voters who would have voted for Cornyn but won't vote for Paxton.

I think there would be some Paxton voters to sit out. I do not think any (or very, very few) of them would vote for Talarico though.

If they cared about that, they would never vote Democrat. I can’t think of a single Democrat policy that lowered the price of anything.

Why would a person more or less go out of their way to vote for a candidate in hopes of achieving another opportunity to vote for said candidate yet then more or less go out of their way to not vote for him again?

That has no bearing on the change that people who are engaged in politics want to happen for their respective parties. Primary voters drive the change, general voters consume the change. Whether they reject it or not is irrelevant.

Change is driven by the voters most interested in politics. If the general voters don't adopt the change, that is fine, and maybe we will get them next time after they see their mistakes. If they do, that is fine too. At least we eliminate old arse fricks occupying office forever feeling they are entitled to our votes.
