He may not make it that far.

When it is clear the Republic is dead, people may not see a reason NOT to do something.

Someone with nothing else to lose is extremely fricking dangerous.

It is beyond impeachable at that point. It is a straight up fricking coup by the White House to change for President to Emperor.

McCarthy has a golden opportunity here to put Biden in his place. He needs to call Biden’s bluff and make a clear statement that if the president attempts to invoke the 14th amendment and authorize an illegal appropriation of funds, then the House will immediately introduce articles of impeachment.

The emperor has dissolved the Imperial Senate. The last vestiges of the Old Republic have been swept away.

Impeachment does no good without the ability to convict. And the Dems will never vote to convict.

What is more likely to happen is that Biden and his handlers get taken into custody for military tribunals.

You’re right but make the democrats in the senate go on record as supporting a lawless president. It’ll give our nominee another talking point for the election in 2024: the lawlessness in our nation begins at the top with the chief executive.

at the core they really are totalitarian goons.

this whole administration is a literal Neo Bolshevik project. trying to make thought crimes a thing over social media posts. locking up political dissenters. unelected bureaucrats in DC running our foreign policy.
creating one of the biggest police/surveillance states that would make the Stasi blush and the PRC envious.

Not Tyranny, just authorize the USA to pay it’s bill from last yr and negotiate on upcoming budget, that’s what should happen, not holding debt ceiling hostage to pay what is already spent…this fight makes no sense

This assumes we even have a race in 2024. They seem to be trying to prevent anyone from primary challenging the potato and trying to destroy the opposition candidate through lawfare.

We are getting close to Iran where only candidates approved by the mullahs even make it on the ballot.

Sorry you’d rather wreck our economy over politics

Do you even believe the shite coming out of your mouth?

This administration has fricked the economy already and are papering over the damage. It’s not a question of “if” we get a depression, it is “when” at this point.

Congress ie the house must immediately impeach the president if he tries such a course!

The GOP approved raising the debt limit 3 times during Trump's term without any discussion about reducing the budget, even though the U.S. debt increased by $ 7.8 billion.

Not too bright.

You can argue that the house, by not raising the debt ceiling and calling into question the faith and credit of the country, is the one being unconstitutional

Which is of course horse shite and what they will do, but it definitely appears the house just needs to bite the bullet and cut Medicare or whatever the frick they have to do if they aren’t going to raise the debt ceiling. The house controls the purse except they ain’t controlling shite right now

Why didn’t Trump do this to get his wall built?

I don't mean to be rude, but you guys should realize that raising the debt limit isn't this particular big deal.

If the Dems had wanted to do it when they had the votes they could have said now the debt limit is ten bazillion dollars.

They should have eliminated it.

It's never been stopped them anyway.

Look the people that make the rule, interpret the rules and enforce the rules want this country and the dollar destroyed. Accept that it is going to happen and prepare as best as you can for it because it is happening.

removing the debt ceiling has nothing to do with the "power of the purse".

Congress can pass a balanced budget at any point it sees fit. It has "power of the purse" in order to do so. The fact it lacks political will to do it does not mean it can run roughshod over the Constitution instead.
