This is not really the status.
However, I cannot bring myself to be all that very concerned about this issue. I find the numbers to be too small and the "but for that" consequences to be zero insofar as affecting my life.
I recognize these FACTS:
There are people with penises that desire people with vaginas.
There are people with vaginas that desire people with penises.
There are people with penises that desire people with penises.
There are people with vaginas that desire people with vaginas.
Within EACH of those groups there are people who are more "macho" and people who are more "feminine".
So, there is SOMETHING else involved in whatever "expression" there is for people well beyond "do you have a penis?".
I truly do not care if it is "unusual" or "weird".....there is too much unhappy in the world. IF identifying and behaving in a way that does NOT harm "me"....then chase your happiness and I hope you catch all that you can.
I've spent time around people who made me uncomfortable (AT FIRST).....redneck toughs that turned out to be wonderful and friendly to me as well as "flaming homos" that treated me kindly and educated me without EVER hitting on me, etc.
I just don't CARE what others do. I walk in the grocery store and load my basket with what I like. I just pass by the stuff I don't like. I don't demand that the grocer remove that "yucky" stuff from the store.

People didn't care because people were usually using the correct bathrooms and it wasnt socially acceptable to do otherwise. People care now because the mentally ill and morally depraved in society made it an issue.

Honestly you seem a little worked up. The only time you would see me worked up over this issue would be over children being involved in a issue with a transgender person. Most of the time, tranny just go into the bathroom, do their business and leave. Conservatives never made a stink about it for the most part. When they started getting militant about it that's when people #resist.

The issue comes when the government says "hey. You're skipping over the squash too much. We are going to force you to buy more squash"

I can tell you that it is absolutely related to personality and that is highly correlated with psychopathology. Almost every transgender patient I have treated (male and female) has met criteria for a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder.
