Given what ive seen of the USSS over the last couple years I'd fire half that agency, begin rebuilding the group from the ground up and fill the ranks in the interim with a rotation of special ops guys until the overall competency level and advanced threat capabilities meet the current threat environment (drones/drone defense, heavier weapons capability, directed energy mitigation, etc).

Yeah. I agree with that. I was commenting on Vance being removed before Trump. Someone posted an explanation for this.
I wasn't immediately passing judgement and said as much. I don't pretend to know Secret Service strategy when shots fired.

Exactly right. Trump had guards shielding while the route was secured to evacuate. They did their job well.

Look's like the SS took up a more defensive position around Trump with heavier weapons and armor, while Vance was extracted quickly. Notice they were taken in different directions. Probably two independent groups of SS with different procedures, the VP team probably had to extract the VP so that one threat couldn't take out both the Pres. and the VP.
