Legally immigrated in the mid 80s. Obtained US citizenship about a decade ago. He advocates for a high voltage border fence and for a legally backed, open hunting season on any illegals that make it past the barrier. He's now a dual citizen, resides in Cancun and works in US. He an outlier or is this the general sentiment of other legal immigrants?

Neither. You understand that humans are human, every population, from anywhere, is going to have as wide of range of political and other opinions as people from anywhere else.

quote:The constant media equation of illegal immigration opposition with racism has taken a toll. There are many legal migrants and new citizens who firmly believe Trump is racist for no reason other than the continual droning of Jorge Ramos and Univision to that effect.
He an outlier

He's on perpetual Spring Break.

I know many legal immigrants that dislike people coming here illegally. They had to pay thousands. They feel it is completely unfair that they paid thousands and other people jut walk across the border and pay nothing.
Legal immigrants pay taxes only for a portion of it to be used on illegal immigrants. System needs to be fixed, so the cost is reduced.
We need immigrants, but they need to follow ALL laws. Every person who crosses our border illegally is a CRIMINAL. Some are worse than others, but how can we know? They have to do it the legal way.
We can not choose who is born on our soil, but we can choose who gets to come here. If you grow up a criminal in the US, then you go to jail. If you grow up a criminal elsewhere, then we do not have to let you in.
...and that is one less criminal in our society.

There is nothing more American than waiting in ungodly long lines.
Welcome to America, legals!

In my experience, legal immigrants hate illegal immigrants on principle... at least the attention they're getting

This is the answer; maybe not the high voltage fence but all want a wall

I worked with a young 18 year old son of Mexican immigrants. His entire family is conservative and support Trump bigly. He hates illegal immigration.
His white female high school teacher called him a racist for his conservative views...

Most of the immigrants coming here now via Mexico are from Central America. There is no one that Mexicans look down on more than Central Americans. I know that from first hand experience.
Salvadorans and Hondurans are the n*****s of Mexico.

I would say that any immigrant that went about it the right way. Waited their turn, paid the required money, and assimilated is pissed at these people cheating their way in. It's called the human element. People don't like being screwed. It's why socialism always fails. Rewarding bad behavior goes against the will of nature, not just humans. It's why you don't give dogs treats for digging up your yard.

A friend of mine's dad grew up in Mexico. Came to America legally and obtained citizenship. He's a physician and a Trump supporter.

Not True. Before the election. MSNBC sent a journalist down to the border to see if there was a big problem or not and who actually felt it was a problem.
MSNBC. Not Fox. I assume MSNBC was hoping to hear folks call Trump a racist. What the journalist found was that angriest group was comprised of legal immigrants.
Madcow was stunned. Why? Of course the group who actually does all of the hard work will be the most pissed off by people walking across the border, getting government handouts and taking their jobs.

Every legally immigrated Mexican that I know is pissed, and wants everyone else to go through the same process they had to endure

I was an ESL coordinator in Little Rock school district for a couple years. By far the most pissed off people concerning illegals were the ones that had put in the hard work and came here legally only to see the area flooded by illegals. I haven't met the redneck racist that can hold a candle to a legal Mexican talking about an illegal Guatemalan.
