Would much prefer eligible voters to be required to pass a civics class before being allowed to vote. Way too many stupid people voting.
What does higher overall turnout have to do with that. Are the majority of Americans stupid?
Will of the people or nah?

Where is the right to vote in our constitution?
How many people were allowed to vote after ratification?
The founding of our country saw that people were restricted from voting for many reasons. One of them was RELIGION. Now you say everyone should. Sorry, I agree with the founders more than you. We should restrict.

maybe I dont understand the OP but of course 'the government' has lists of eligible voters.
Right so then we can automatically register everyone at 18 & implement Australia’s compulsory voting model.
What’s confusing here?

Fyi this is why some people don't engage with you. Your dramatic hyperbole leads to nowhere.

The founders wrote the constitution so that rights could be expanded & they have been over 250 years.
You want control. You’re an opponent of freedom and representative democracy.
You claim to champion fairness and democracy but in reality just want to rig the system to suit what you personally think is right.
That’s a level of hypocrisy I can’t comprehend.

It’s straight up not hyperbole. His argument is explicitly disenfranchisement of eligible voters.
Packaged as “election integrity”. People like him are common & this is why no one takes it in good faith.
People don’t want to engage because they don’t know what to make of this argument & can’t come up with a counter.
I noticed you didn’t offer a counter.

Not a bad idea, but many people in this thread just want to make it harder to vote & for less US citizens to vote.

It's very much hyperbole. As is your post right after that got you to the only place you ever want to be, which is declaring someone bad to highlight your own goodness.
It's not a unique shtick on this board. You're just devoted to it more than most.

So people that normally can’t be bothered with voting every couple years will be made to vote?
This is how you get Idiocracy even more so than we have now.

I honestly don't understand your main sentence in the OP. I'm not at all sure I understand your proposal.
Maybe re-stating it would get you more responses.

I noticed you didn’t respond to my last message about AI yesterday. I noticed you didn’t make any material arguments here either, aside from the irrelevant character jab.
People don’t want to engage because they don’t know what to make of this argument & can’t come up with a counter.

Down with the government making lists of all eligible voters & voter ID… IF it comes with compulsory voting and automatic registration of eligible parties at age 18.
Idk that I could be any more concise or simplify it any further. What’s got you hung up?

I missed it. My apologies. I bounce around boards and, you know, enjoy the real world on occasion.
I have no interest in responding to the topic of this thread because you already showed your goal here.

Voter turnout phobic huh?
As soon as you say I "have to" I say "screw you".
Maybe you can grasp that.

Syntax and grammar.
It looks like it could be a question even though there is no, "Who all is," or "Are you," before the word "down," but there's no question mark at the end.
Given the syntax/grammar, it looks like you are saying "Down with the government making lists..." in the same way people used to say, "Down with Nixon!"
So I can't tell if you are making a statement against something or asking who would be for it.

Ah, that makes sense. “Down with” as in “I support”
