Damn. So psoriasis folks would fall in that group I think. Lots of those out there.

I have seen zero evidence that this will be that widespread. China is a meat plant and their exposed rate is less than 1% of the population.

I’m just relaying the general consensus of epidemiologists who were referenced in the articles I read.

The analysis of 22 studies reveals that human coronaviruses such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) coronavirus, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus or endemic human coronaviruses (HCoV) can persist on inanimate surfaces like metal, glass or plastic for up to 9 days, but can be efficiently inactivated by surface disinfection procedures with 62–71% ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide or 0.1% sodium hypochlorite within 1 minute.

Vessels were fixed last week to bring ethanol from us to China

How about Iran?

Why are so many dying there?

No one knows.

I would guess the percentage of deaths is the same as seen elsewhere.

Also, it’s obviously going to spread faster is more unsanitary conditions. I expect an explosion in India very soon.

So you believe the numbers China is putting out. Do you also believe that China is so concerned about the death of a couple thousand people that they put almost 800 million people on lockdown and killed HALF their industrial capacity over them? Because that's what they've done in response to this. Remember the last time they did that? No you don't because it's never happened.

Remember, they started shutting down millions of people back in mid January. You seriously believe that they spotted this thing that had only been wild since December and shite their pants so hard they cause everyone on the planet to collective shite theirs a month later in sympathy over a new strain of the cold or flu that's no biggy?

You are naive. Or just easily mislead. Either way, get prepared to lock down. You'll eat it all eventually if it doesn't happen and if it does, you'll be pretty glad you did.

Dude even if 10 million people we infected in China, that is still less than 1% of their population.

They put that many people on lockdown because they live like fricking sardines and are a COMMUNIST government.

"Prepared for a lock down"

You need to watch less cable news.

Turkish ambassador said clearly his Intel in Iran was over 50.

You believe Iran and china.

Only people eating anything up is you at the trough of two shite hole communist and religious dictatorships.

It us fascinating to watch this take place on this forum. The hypocrisy is here for all to see. The conservative Political Board trusts Iran and China.

What a day it is without question. Hell even rush is on the China train with their phony numbers. The left and right are as different as McDonald's and burger king or Pepsi and coke.

Enjoy the show indeed. I am. Both sides are epic failures and the biggest damn hypocrites I have ever seen.

We can't believe the numbers China is putting out, but I'm supposed to believe that 40% of the world will be infected and that we'll have food shortages? If we don't know the actual infection rate in China, then any estimate of the virus' spread rate is based on made up numbers or false data.

killed HALF their industrial capacity over them?

Where are you getting this number from? Even if it is true, the factories are already reopening. If it was as serious as you want us to believe, why would they take actions that will only increase the virus' spread? If shutting down production was a sign of the virus' severity, then reopening them must be a sign that its impact is lessening. If the two actions are linked, then they should be linked in both directions.

This all seems like fear mongering. 14 whole people have been infected in the US. The media is being sensationalist like they always do. I'm not going to freak out about something before I need to. Most likely, the impact this will have on me will be the same as SARS, MERS, bird flu, swine flu, Ebola, and the Black Death.

I dont believe Iran or China.

I'm also just not going to make up random fricking numbers based on nothing. There's cases all over the world and they all appear to be subsiding like in Singapore.

But go buy bags of rice and hunker down in a basement so you dont get the next bubonic plague.

From a few days ago:
"Most of the Americans who were being monitored at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for coronavirus after evacuating a cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the virus, the hospital says. "We wanted to be certain of what we had, and today we know that we have 11 positives," he said. UNMC said several people are exhibiting minor symptoms but others are not showing any symptoms.
Eleven of the 13 American passengers evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan who were deemed 'high risk' for coronavirus have been confirmed to have the infection that's spread to nearly 77,000 people around the world.
Twelve of those 13 passengers were being held at the National Quarantine Center in Omaha, Nebraska, while one was transferred immediately to the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit because they had developed symptoms of the virus and had an underlying condition."

And 2,700 have died from it compared to the 14,000 that have died from the flu?

What is it with the number of people on this board that don't do basic math? Maybe this will help -

With the flu 0.2 % or 2000 people in every 1 million that get the flu die. With coronavirus 2.1 % or 21,000 people in every 1 million that get coronavirus die.

With approximately 350 million people in the US, if everyone got the flu 700,000 people would die. If everyone got coronavirus, 7,350,000 people would die.

It's not absolute numbers, it's percentages.

The country I live in just got the first confirmed case 2 days ago and now there are over 40 confirmed cases. The government has shut down schools for a month as of this morning. The first patient happened to be a bus driver. Incoming flights have been restricted. Not sure if it's an overreaction but the government here are taking no chances.

I see it as a very bad sign. It means that China has given up all hope of containing the virus to specific regions within their population and they are just accepting whatever the death rate is - for all the Chinese citizens.

We may be able to keep this contained in the US, but as fast as it is affecting other countries, we need to shut down all international travel like yesterday. It's not fear-mongering, this is a very big deal. China is releasing bullshite numbers - they would not quarantine over half a billion people for the flu. Estimates I have heard are about a 15% death rate. That's 1 dies out of every 7 people that get the virus. It could also be less than the 2.1% number we get from China. The problem is that we don't know and won't know until there are more cases and longer time progression outside of China.

What possible world do you live in?

Subsiding? Like Italy? Like Iran? Like China? Like Japan? Have you seen the charts showing how Japan and China juices the numbers CLEARLY. Clear as day. Is post it but I'm not wasting my time with people who refuse to see what is happening because they lost a few grand or more in the stock market and need some confirmation bias to strike back.

How about Iran? Subsiding there? How about Germany where it seemed to be in check and now they are having cases from different angles in 24 hours

Or how about the fact 21 nations have had cases in the last 36 hours? That type if subsiding?

Or the fact 14% of the "recovered" have been reinfected in wuhan? If it is just a nothing burger why isn't rush and Hannity and Trump asking what the hell happened to the reporters in wuhan that were exposing the Chinese lies who have disappeared? The mother of one has pleaded to find her son. Crickets in media.

Or the countless videos of people dropping on the streets. I've seen a lot of shite but montages of people in masks dropping like flies just isn't one of them. Can't find those videos anymore. Twitter said nope.. pulled.

And south America has a new case in Sao Paulo at the carnival..

But yea Singapore.

Oh and France has 3 new cases and one died here the last few hours.

People like you down playing it are a clear danger. You wouldn't do shite to stop shite.

Negative.
Again, COVID-19 is a bad bug, but a 2.1% predicted mortality appears overstated.

First off, we would expect early-stage mortality numbers to be skewed upward due to ineffective systems in initially impacted countries, namely China.

Secondly, the COVID-19 2.1% mortality you've quoted is an outcome statistic for REPORTED cases. As has been noted at UNMC, many infected patients don't feel severely ill.

In the general population, if folks have few symptoms, they are unlikely to report as sick. If they don't report, they will not be represented in the CVIm/CVIt denominator. If CVI totals are underreported, mortality ratios will be overstated.

You'll need to link that. I'd guess you either didn't understand what you read, or the writer did not understand what he wrote.
