The poorest people do even register to vote much less vote.
The majority of folks without college degrees vote Republican these days. The majority of people with college degrees vote for Democrats.

Unfortunately most of the poor would give these answers:
They will provide you solid employment - Do not want
They will take you off government hand-out programs - This is what they are afraid of.
They will teach you that hard work pays off - Do not want
They will give you and your family dignity - Do not want
They will prove to you that less government is good - Do not care
They will tax you less and give you more freedom - Do not pay taxes
They will show that the liberal/left is a dead-end - Can not recognize this
They will give you a real chance at the American Dream! - They are already living the dream of paying No taxes, doing no work, free medical care, free food, free house, and free to wake up any time they want.
In their minds they have more freedom than anyone and do not want to lose it.

No it didn't. It doubled the standard deduction. If your combined deductions didn't exceed the new standard, then the "republican tax cut" helps you. If your deductions do exceed the new standard, then you use the individual deductions.
