I've always disliked him. He's a pompous, holier-than-thou jackass. His ten commandment monument stunt was just that, a stunt.
Any man who thinks God is actually on his side is deranged, delusional or both. Before you downvote, "God" gave us free will.
I seriously would not vote for Roy Moore to be our county sanitation supervisor.
Yet I'll go vote for him to keep a poisonous Democrat out, if that's what it comes down to.
I am pretty much on board with you - and if I lived in Alabama I'd vote for him as well.
I take small exception with one of your facets; I don't think anyone says "God is on my side" - I think they say "I am on God's side." I think Abe Lincoln first made this distinction.
I absolutely maintain that Moore - with all his 40 years removed 'interest in young teenaged girls" is still a more moral man than 2/3 of those already seated in the Senate - especially amongst the DEMocrats. I would not doubt there are a couple of recent actual pedophiles in theri midst. e.g. Menendez Anyone who has accepted a flight to Pedo Island needs to prove they are not a pedophile.
I haven't researched the topic (I get all my info from TD) but I have not heard of any 'offenses' by Moore in the last 30 years. That is much longer than convicted child rapists serve in prison. Without some indication of a recent indication that he is continuing that behavior from 40 years ago, I am don't even care any more on a moral level.
Yeah - he was an immature jerk when he was 32 - but he outgrew it, later than most, but he does have a lifetime of actual performance to judge him on, not just his ancient jerkiness.
There is a reason for 'statute of limitations' on certain actual crimes. If it was that long ago, we as a society are no longer interested in meting out punishment. Whatever he is 'accused of' in the 40 year old memories of some politically motivated mind is not relevant today.
I give this zero credibility as it pertains to CURRENT political issues. I didn't like him because he is a loony tune. I didn't like him because I thought there were better candidates. I didn't like him because I thought he would forever be making knee-jerk stupid remarks that would reflect badly on the conservative brand.
I didn't give a shite about the 'allegations' from 40 years ago unless they reveals some actual CRIME that survives the statute of limitations.

You think the Dems won't keep Franken?
I WANT them to keep Franken - so that we can mock the shite out of him with the PICTURE every time he opens his ugly face. I suspect they will prove their 'seriousness' by tossing him under the bus.

Exactly.
If we were holding this vote in 1980, then talk to me.
Telling me he had LEGAL iffy proclivities 40 years ago doesn't even get my attention
And the illegal accusations are just comically fraudulent

Didn't the Democrats literally fix the primaries for Hillary? You are out of your mind if you think it's only Repubs doing that shite.
Tribalism has ruined America's politics.

Vote for Moore. It's important. Gumps can unload him next time... just don't lose the seat.
Seems so obvious to this deplorable
Agreed. It's about the SEAT
The DEMs made it about the SEAT when they executed the TIMING the way they did.
It was a conscious plan to STEAL the seat.
IF they were interested in the "women's issues:" they would have tried to take out Moore during the primary, knowing that the people of Alabama want a conservative senator.
Unless they can compete with the message of conservatism in Alabama, they do not deserve a progressive senator from Alabama.
So what they foremost wanted was the SEAT that they did not DESERVE.
Usinge 'women's issues" was just a ploy to that end.
The current embodiment of the DEMOCRAT party is the SCUMMIEST political affiliation ever concocted in America.

This is the whole issue. Jones is NOT, I repeat, NOT going to vote for ANYTHING I agree with. Nothing. He is more liberal than most California democrats. He actually has said that life does not begin until birth. Not even the day before, but at birth. He will vote against every conservative idea there is until he is up for re-election - which he will lose.
But I absolutely hate Moore's disgusting face.
This is the spot most Republicans are in today in Alabama. We can't justify voting for either person.

I hae made worse votes - I voted for McCain in 2008 - just to try keeping DEMs out of the WH - And I really am disgusted by McCain.
Nothing comes close to that ugly taste in my mouth.
I don't know how many times you have voted, but I have been at this since 1960 - and I have cast FAR more votes AGAINST the opponents than I have FOR the person I voted 'for.'
This is politics - it ain't purdy. And usually tastes really bad.

He outgrew it? Really? When the hell did this happen? Maybe he did regarding women, and kudos to him if he's been faithful to his wife all these years...but let's not kid ourselves. Defying the SCOTUS is just a different manifestation of it. You're right in that we do have a lifetime of actual performance. That lifetime of performance includes advocating putting homosexuals in jail. That's being a pretty fricking big jerk.
I agree that Jones is a Democrat that would make San Franciscoans proud, and he must be defeated. But one way or another, Moore should not be allowed to remain in that seat one day longer than is absolutely necessary.

Then attack him on THAT - if you can convince the people of Alabama that they do not want that kind of representation then more power to you.
THOSE ARE ACTUAL ISSUES TO DISCUSS - and to make DECISIONs about who should REPRESENT you.
Alabama does not have any obligation to put people in the Senate to represent the kooks in CALIFORNIA - but it you want to attack him on those grounds you are doing the RIGHT THING.
GO FOR IT!!!
But I see NOT ONE EFFERT to get him to "resign' based on those ISSUEs - all I see are dredging up shite from CURRENT allegations about what happened FORTY YEARS AGO.
You are engaging in what the DEMs are doing - you really don't give a shite about 'women's rights" - you want to STEAL a senate seat to represent CALIFORNIA issues.

No the CONSERVATIVE stance (don't give a shite about what the GOP says) is to change the conditions that cause these regrettable things to happen.
DEMOCRATs want to ENHANCE the conditions that generate these regrettable things.
THAT is the difference.
THIS is the clear demarcation between the parties =
DEMOCRATs depend on continuing misery and EVERY TENET of their agenda is designed to get MORE OF IT.
CONSERVATIVES (have only the GOP to hope represents them) want to eliminate those miserable conditions and fight for establishing a culture that does just that.
Ask yourself one question
WHICH party would go extinct overnight if miserable living condition were to magically go away.
And you will arrive at the correct distinction between the two parties.

It might make your decision somewhat easier by being reminded that it took us 18 years to "exorcise" the female version of Jones from here.
Only we got a double dose locally with her brother leading what is now a Leftist-dominated parish.
And you see his results after 8 years.
Only here there are no prospects for turning the tide away from this ongoing slouch at least for the foreseeable future.
It's best to catch every form of cancer early.
