I hear "common sense gun legislation needs to happen" but what does that mean?

I hear the term "common sense gun laws" from democrats but I never really hear anyone say what they think those are. So, if you're for common sense legislation, please tell me what that is to you?

"Ban all guns" when you press them long enough on it.

It's a ploy.

Because you obviously can't be against "common sense".

IT is common sense like healthcare is now “affordable”.

Gun legislation isn't what we need. What we need is secure schools.

This is kinda my thoughts as well... I hear the term common sense over and over, but I've never heard anyone qualify what that means to them?

it means slowly chip away at the rights of American citizens until we have none left. Right now it's ban AR because of school shootings. Then another one will happen with a pistol and we will have to ban pistols. Then someone will commit a mass murder with a shotgun and shotguns will have to go.

They are chasing a ZERO sum. The only possible way to have zero firearm deaths is to wipe the existence of firearms from the face of the earth.

It means something different with every iteration of it. Stronger background checks and bans on certain guns and magazines are proposed, but then when that doesn't stop a mass shooting, they will look for something else. They just want the shootings to stop and they don't care about the loss of freedom that comes with it. It's emotionally charged, which is why the calls disappear a few weeks later when people start forgetting about it.

It's common sense that whatever a democrat thinks is without a doubt 100% correct and to disagree is racist/unintelligent/immoral/criminal. So using that common sense, guns should be illegal. In fact, death penalty for those even thinking about guns. Yes, I realize that it would be hypocritical for a democrat to be for the death penalty, but in this case, it's "common sense".

When you hear a leftist use the term “common sense”, get ready to hear some outrageous nonsense.

For the record, I think we have strong laws on that books, many of which are poorly enforced. I do think there needs to be a way to better report mental health issues to the NICS system, but also recognize that can be a very slippery slope as to who gets to determine what mental illness is.

We already have “common sense gun laws” in place. In fact, with the NFA we have laws infringing our right to bear arms, already. They just don’t know anything about guns. I guarantee you that Trump could write an EO that all gun show sales of firearms must go through NICS and they’d be ecstatic...even though that’s already the case they’ve been told it’s not. So they think a felon can just walk up and buy one at a gun show without an issue.

None of them would have prevented this. He was totally lawful in his purchase. If you wanted to find a way to curtail it without banning or necessarily abridging the right to keep and bear arms, you could tax the hell out of semi-automatic rifles . Nowhere in the Second Amendment does it say that exercising that right HAS to be affordable....problem is that would force a lot of people onto the black market

Extremely slippery and that slope would be covered in visquine with lots of oil to make that traction on the way down nearly non- existent.

Could very well be considered to be an infringement on the people's right to keep and bear arms. Therefore, being unconstitutional.

Your argument is that attempts to stop these stop child massacres will probably fail (because you don't know for 100% sure), so why even try.

'I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.' It's that simple dude.

The fact republicans say time and time again 'it won't prevent gun violence' without even trying says its more about their guns than the childrens lives.
