The left was okay when they were the party of the working man and civil rights. Now they've succumbed to the siren song of communism and anti-Americanism. I just want them jailed at best. They deserve no pity. May the wrath of God come down upon them.

Of everything they've done, this gender theory fad is the most bizarre. Its like these folks are all living some strange alternative existence.
I can understand it from the marxist perspective, they want to flip society and destroy all customs/norms/natural inclinations.
But I dont see how in the hell it became a seminal social justice issue for the entire left. Its literally insane.

Exactly. The only reason they are calling for unity now is that they are scared.
They have been perfectly fine creating a radical leftist culture that they can point towards anyone they deem a target. Now, they see the incredible anger from the conservatives and fear that the weapon they created for the left will now manifest itself on the right and start coming for them.
They also realize that at this moment, that we are done being nice and will no longer just take it anymore. The bully will now be punched back and they don't like it.

Unity for them means conservatives have to do all the work of compromise and reconciliation. Liberals get to do nothing.
