New York should NOT be a strike one that's for sure!

NYC had a net out migration of more than 130K 2020-2021. That's NET which obviously means a lot more than 130K left.
Their net migration has been negative for quite some time.
According to the NYC comptroller, Florida is the #20 location they are going.

Because people are retiring and want no tax on their pensions. Many weep, leaving with tears in their eyes!

Until city-states become a thing, this will be a problem.

NYC has tons going for it, despite its corrupt and broken govt.
Its a one party city, so there are zero checks and balances.
But it is also the bastion of capitalism, where many of the best and brightest from around the world.
It is dirty, corrupt, expensive as hell, and crowded. But it is still full of opportunity and vigor.
And, by the way, contrary to popular belief, it is RELATIVELY safe, and doesn't even crack the top 20 most violent cities in the U.S. :
St. Louis, MO (2,082)
Detroit, MI (2,057)
Baltimore, MD (2,027)
Memphis, TN (2,003)
Little Rock, AR (1,634)
Milwaukee, WI (1,597)
Rockford, IL (1,588)
Cleveland, OH (1,557)
Stockton, CA (1,415)
Albuquerque, NM (1,369)
Springfield, MO (1,339)
Indianapolis, IN (1,334)
Oakland, CA (1,299)
San Bernardino, CA (1,291)
Anchorage, AK (1,203)
Nashville, TN (1,138)
Lansing, MI (1,136)
New Orleans, LA (1,121)
Minneapolis, MN (1,101)
Chicago, IL (1,099)

Human beings are not meant to live on top of one another like sardines. It's no secret that places with huge population densities require a nanny state government. Even Giuliani was a big government shill.

Kind of like the 996 work schedule in China, there are people that feel they absolutely can't avoid working in NYC to succeed at whatever it is they think they want to do.
I presume you're counting murder numbers, but that doesn't include people shoved onto subway tracks (which doesn't seem to happen anywhere outside of NYC, and SF at nearly the same rate.) How many Vietnamese got brained with a baseball bat in New Orleans in 2022?
There are always tradeoffs, but working in NYC, your "escape routes" are NJ and CT (maybe Long Island, but still under corrupt state rule and subject to NYC tax policies on income, etc). Which also suffer from one party rule, and are corrupt and expensive as hell. At least if you work in Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, or Indianapolis you can reasonably live in an adjacent county and be shielded from much of that madness. You don't have a choice working in NYC.

Thank god Alabama will be one of the last states to be taken over by the carpetbagger shitheads.

No, violent crime.
And yes, there are many homeless/mentally handicapped people that the cops aren't allowed to help unless they are an imminent danger to others, and it is primarily these individuals involved in pushing people off the train platforms (keep in mind, as horrible as it is, it has happened two or maybe three times in the last several years, but it does grab the headlines).

That's actually the case in NYC as well. Putnam, Suffolk, Orange counties all vote red.

Yep. Worked with one last week that spends just enough time in Florida to claim residency over Manhattan. The TDS was real and I had to bite my tongue but holy shite. They applauded Hocul’s stance on accepting “migrants” as they can’t support them due to their system being overwhelmed. But they need them in NYC to be maids and wash dishes.
Oh and they thought MAGA meant to make America white again. They were white. I just shook my head.
Welcome to Florida.

I know cops aren't allowed to do anything. Due to laws passed by the people elected by the city, and more importantly, the state.
So they're all allowed to hire un-vaxxed nurses?
That's a rhetorical question, of course.
Glad you can tolerate it, but there's no way I would. It's reminiscent of people that live in greater New Orleans but swear it's OK, because their block is safe.
On the plus side for Florida, there are a ton of Orthodox Jews making their way to the area, and they for sure do not vote like the people on the West Palm Beach School Board do.

Uh, Tammany Hall much?
NYC ebbs and flows, and only manages to survive (unlike Detroit, Baltimore, Minneapolis, etc.,) because it is the subject of songs, folklore, and pride.
Similar to Brexit where a ton of companies and people threatened to move to Frankfurt or Dublin, they... didn't. The hubris associated with living/working in London was too strong, much the same with NYC I suppose.

Carl Icahn, Paul Singer, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez.. just a few big names from NY city, who gave it the finger for Florida.
And according to the NY Post, in 2001 alone, data from the US Postal Service show that 2,246 people filed a permanent address change from Manhattan to Miami-Dade County, while 1,741 relocated to Palm Beach County last year. They comprised 9 percent of out-of-state moves from the borough, an increase from 6 percent in 2019.
And that was just Miami fade and palm beach county.
1.6 million people in Florida were born in New York.
So sorry.. people are fleeing NY city too.
