The hubris associated with living/working in London was too strong
The Labour Party in the UK and the Democrat Party here in the US have followed similar evolutions. The original Brexit referendum in 1975 was a Labour creation. That was when the British left was firmly entrenched with the interests of the country's working class. Now most Labour voters are urban residents of London, whose disdain for those "little England" types in far flung places like Yorkshire, Cornwall and Lincolnshire is patently obvious. Similar to this country, the Democrats now despise what was once their core constituency: the working class.

100%. I don't think football helps this much, but I've seen it in Leeds, and Liverpool, and to a lesser extent Manchester (I was too distracted by the Communist protests to notice much else.)

Back in 2016 we had the usual suspects saying Brexit was due to Russian influence. What none of them understood was that places like Sunderland, Hartlepool and every district in the West Midlands (save Warwick I believe) voted to leave. These are places where the Tories haven't won in decades. The voters bucked their own party.

Some years ago a couple from New York who had relocated to Tennessee began attending my small country church. The husband was red pilled after a few months in the South. I wish I could say the same for his wife. If New Yorkers move to the South, they need to leave the leftist ideology in New York and wise up a bit.
