According to U.S. Treasury data, the national debt level rose by $7.8 trillion during Trump’s four years as president, which is about 25% of the current $31 trillion in national debt.

Updated would put it at a little bit less than that percentage wise. Currently, according to U.S. debt clock , the national debt is just north of $34 trillion. That would still make Trump responsible for nearly 23% of the nation's debt.

How much money was spent on COVID-19?

The federal government made $2.6 trillion in funds available to respond to COVID-19 and spent $1.6 trillion of that in fiscal year 2020. Department of the Treasury and USAFacts.

According to my sources, Trump spent around $3 trillion during the Dems ownership of him during covid.

Take that out of the total, leaving around $4.8 trillion added is about the same number Joe Biden is currently at. Of course, Biden still has another year to add to it.

Republicans AND Democrats are responsible for the mess we're in. Democrats get off on social spending, Republicans get off on foreign wars. All of them love spending other people's money.

So I guess it's all good just as long as "our" guy wins and we can run up the debt the way we see fit.

At least, that's what it seems like reading this board.

Why?

Covid was a fraud. Trump was a pussy and fired up the money press. He's not a republican.

Now tell the class how many years until major welfare programs (Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid) + interest payments will account for 100% of revenue.

How much of our money did he give away over a little cold virus?

This isn't even bringing up the fact he enriched big pharma and all we got out of it was a shitty vaccine that kills people.

Enough to keep the machine from putting him in prison for the rest of his life for the murder of millions of people.

This line of thinking is stupid. The President does have recourse.

I have linked the story about Eisenhower and how he balanced the budget with a Democratic Congress multiple times. Look it up.

Trumps debt could have sent them 70 times more than the 115 billion we have sent them. Yall keep choosing sides, they are all incompetent.

The United States federal government shutdown from midnight EST on December 22, 2018, until January 25, 2019 (35 days) was the longest government shutdown in history[1][2]

He wasn't thrifty, but you are full of shite. The Dems had congress.

So now it's not the president's fault for our country's debt?

Republicans like regime change and nation building in the middle east. Democrats tend to prefer global war. Biden is doing his damndest to escalate the Russia-Ukraine conflict, but he may run out of time before he can fully take credit for WW3.

It's not really a yes or no question. Do you think Democrats ever care about debt? Even pay it lip service? I'm certain that the majority of the Right's base would be in favor of a balanced budget amendment. Can you say that about Dems?
