Last I looked the war is still ongoing and the territory is still in dispute. Who's to say an EU backed Ukraine doesn't take their land back?

And if you’re Zelensky, giving away your territory without any gains for Ukraine would make him a dead man.
He must have EU and or NATO as a motivator for peace. Otherwise he’ll try to fight back as much as possible with European support. Can’t just give territory away for nothing.

You are saying what I’m saying.
My original point was that Zelensky doesn’t want the war to end. He’s willing / desires to continue fighting.
Personally, I think that’s going to turn out poorly for Ukraine once the US puts a definitive end to funding and supplying weapons. This is his opportunity to negotiate with the US as a bargaining chip.
For Ukrainians sake, I hope he doesn’t give Trumps hand and then reverse course when it’s too late.

He’s not giving anything away. It’s already gone.
He’s faced with a decision about whether he wants to continue and potentially lose more land and lives…or worse. Remember, the US is giving him all indications he isn’t getting support moving forward.
