How quickly would school shootings stop if...

If the murderers were caught and brought to the town square, and they were hanged, drawn, and quartered in front of the public.
We wouldn't have to debate about gun control anymore because it wouldn't be happening. If we were serious about stopping this stuff, and we were a serious country, we would simply make it stop.

Erase their names from the history books. Punish any news organization giving them any individual recognition.

It will continue to happen no matter what, just a matter of how severe.

Funny how how people think that public executions don’t work. How many school shootings has Russia or North Korea had?

Or we could just
- end "gun free zones"
- supply teachers/administrators/on-campus officers with proper protections
- implement common sense measures such as locking doors

I posted in another thread. It's way more profitable to be a victime than solve a problem.
Same reason we don't solve the 11,000 drunk driving deaths every year. If you knew you were facing a mandatory 2 month jail sentance for first offense and 2 years for second, things would change quickly.

OK let's do that too. But what is wrong with a proper punishment in front of everyone (quickly after the crime so it's fresh in everyone's mind).

So you ARE on board with abandoning the constitution to address gun violence???
Talk about a plot twist.
ETA: lol what are you mad at me for? It’s exactly what you’re all gleefully upvoting/advocating for.

That would probably reduce school shootings by 90%.

There is value in shaming people publicly and we need to make people feel ashamed of their bad behavior. I think putting people in the stocks in the public square was not without value - if done properly. I won’t necessarily advocate for the death penalty, but a non-public death penalty is useless.
That said, most shooters are killed or kill themselves it seems, so no opportunity for public shaming and punishment.

The thing about mass shootings is that most of the time, the shooter is killed. They typically WANT to die.
So, the town square thing wont work very well stopping someone that is usually killed and/or wants to die.

I’m all for it. However, in these type shootings the killer usually commits suicide either by shooting themself or by engaging law enforcement. And those few that hadn’t planned on suicide would likely do so under your scenario.

Don't be a mealy mouthed wuss.
Arm nearly everyone in the school.
And never, ever, use the term "common sense" in relation to guns, or our rights every again, because like the word "reform" (ie immigration reform) it means whatever the politician wants it to mean. To me common sense means start boys on .45ACP and girls on 9MM. To your wife, that means I can't leave the gun I lost in the great boating accident in my truck when I go to help for a science lab.

I’ve witnessed public executions and believe it should be the norm here in the States. No 10 years on death row or anything like that. You are guilty of a serious offense you get strung up in front of the courthouse for all to see. Hangings should happen daily here and we should support it.

Problem is most of these people are suicidal and DGAF. So I don't think punishment would deter them. It's like Islamic terror - hard to stop it when you have 20 guys who are willing to die. Or suicide bombers who strap bombs to their chest and happily walk into a market and blow everyone up. It's sorta the same thing with the school shooters.
We've always had crazy people in society, but they didn't used to act out in this way. (So it's not all mental illness). It's a complex phenomenon with a lot of cultural aspects to it. Pop culture, music, media, mental illness, breakdown of the family, social isolation, loss of respect for authority - all of these things play into it I think.

Calm down, Karen. It wasnt in relation to guns. It was pertaining to measures that can be taken at schools... like locking doors.

Leave them in iron maidens to rot.

How about if the media quit making these douchebags famous?

Yet, I quoted an exact example related to guns and schools.
I prefer people not be lazy in their language usage, especially if I agree with them in principle, because it makes the idea I probably agree with harder to attack or subvert from the opposition.
