re: How much of what we're seeing now is directly because of F-35?

Such a good fighter that the F-35 is beating it in every metric while the 22 is relegated to performing rearguard missions or in the case of previous conflicts as a stealthy AWACS platform.
The F-22 is faster, more maneuverable, and has a smaller radar cross-section. It is better in every metric than the F-35 except for ground attack, which in the modern world where 99% of our missions involve attacking hostiles that have minimal or no capability to fight back with manned aerial assets is all we need. If Iran had fighters that could out dogfight F-35s, I promise you the F-22s would be tip of the spear clearing the airspace for them because that is what they are designed to do, pummel the enemy air assets into the tarmac for the F-35s to proceed to drop JDAMs and GBUs on.

It's ironic because the F-35 was for so long widely criticized as a massive failure: an enormously expensive and largely ineffective weapons system plagued with operational issues.
Consider the agenda of the source of that criticism.
The F-35 is clearly a world class 5th gen fighter.

How far will we take it?
To Greenland.

Yeah. Don’t we sell the 35? I don’t hear much about us selling the 22.
Yes - F-35 is exported to allies like Italy, Japan, Israel, and many others.
We also export the F-16 to countries that can’t afford a 5th gen fighter.

The most expensive weapons system of all time. Will cost us close to $2 trillion before it is entirely replaced with unmanned AI controlled fighter bombers.
It's a good point, it looks like there was a reason the government kept pouring crazy amounts of money into one platform.

What is a comparable technology that made one nation essentially invulnerable to another? The long bow? The three deck man o war? The horse?
It feels like how the Aircraft Carrier dominated sea combat from 1942 till now.

Amazing that they apparently never even pulled these birds out.
If they did they want say. The F-22's are not for sale!!

One version I heard of how this happened (paraphrased):
Israeli started launching aircraft as a feint, which caused both Iranian air defenses to go extremely active, as well as the surface to surface missile launchers to start deploying. Unfortunately for them, there were F-22s in their airspace collecting all kinds of location and transmission data, which allowed target packages to be acted upon later with the element of surprise.

The F-35, even with all of its budget overruns and stuff, has performed great so far.
But Syria and Iran aren't really peer or near peer adversaries. The J-20, J-35, and Su-57 are its peers. I hope our Air Defense is better than Iran's and Syria's if those 5th Gen fighters have similar capabilities as the F-35.

Is the Osprey over its reputation yet?

Similar to the B-1 had a shitty rep early in it's life cycle.

Don't be mistaken.... what we're seeing now is made possible by Mossads intelligence dominance.

The game changer in all of it is AI and more importantly quantum computing. Whoever reaches full quantum capability and integration becomes nearly impossible to defeat.
That combined with advanced robotics will guarantee us dominance over other nations but might be as dangerous to us as it is our enemies.

Read that the F35 has the radar signature of a sparrow.
