All over the world?

Not nearly as much if we cut entitlements to freeloading citizens.

How safe would we be without military bases all over the world?
I wonder how many countries would love that idea.

You live in the empire’s capital. Be happy. Military spending is a blip on the radar.
Foreign money funnels and the welfare state are much more pressing

I worry more about the 535 dirtbags in DC that all feed their masters $$$$$$$$$$$$ buried in stacks of paper so high no one could ever audit it.
$100,000 to research Christmas tree wreaths in gated communities
$100,000 to fund offshore research on fishing boats
$500,000 to fund feasibility of golf course construction on desert island
$10,000,000 for desert island for turf research
$10,000,000 for museum to celebrate the author of a book
and so on.
I'd love to just go line by freaking line.

We wouldn't save anything. China and Russia would take over those countries and dominate world trade charging more and higher prices.

Ron Paul has entered the thread.

We forward deploy our troops because it is advantageous for us, not to actually protect any of these places.

You can't because then you are labeled Putins puppet that wants Russia to take over the world.
And the majority of our federal tax money goes to transfer payments. Any one that says the military is lying.
Majority of our troops are in Germany, South Korea and Japan.

As of 2019, the United States military expenditure amounted to 3.4 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), placing the U.S. lower in the ranking of military expenditure as a percentage of GDP than Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Russia.
If you add homeland security it goes up another percentage.
Oh and we tried to tell you democrats.

You're an idiot if you think our military spending is an issue.
If anything, we are underfunding our defense.
Over one third of the military budget is for personnel, including retirees and dependents, not instruments of war.

Why can’t our allies have the military bases? What logic is there in us having a large military presence in Germany, with the No. 4 GDP in the world?
Also in Japan, with the No. 3 GDP.

I can understand having a few bases around the world for fast strike capabilities or naval resupply but it makes no sense why we are all over Europe. Europe is not third world. They can protect themselves.

How much money would we save if we stopped handing out our tax dollars to other countries with no accountability?
How much money could I have saved if I wasn't forced into the fraud that is the Social Security system?
Moral of the story, they take our hard earned money for a bunch of throw away, stupid shite.

Probably something on the order of ~$50 - 100B annually on the very high end, so not all that terribly much in the grand scheme of things. And that's assuming you don't keep any of those capabilities operational when you move them back to home soil. With the exception of Germany, Japan, Korea, and Afghanistan, it's a pretty light footprint.

Keep the bases.
Stop sending money to other countries. Any country, for any reason.
Tell host countries to pay up their REQUIRED and previously AGREED portion of UN, NATO etc dues or we will not allow any purchase for the bases from that country, we will ship everything into the base. We will not allow any leave (R&R) outside the base. These countries make a ton of money from our soldiers, the food and supplies we buy, all the while not even paying the tiny portion of their GDP to the UN which is supposed to help pay for their defense.
Its why they can have all those social programs that progressives here want to implement. Because they arent paying shite for the defense of their own country. If they dont pay up we should pull out and not do jack when Russia rolls over them.
