Don’t even know anyone who said it’s worse than the cold or flu

A couple family friends died.
Several have been sick in hospital.
I manage our time entry system as well at work though and I can for sure tell you there was a bereavement spike the last few months

I wonder if it's an urban/rural issue. Like if you live in a fairly large city you are more likely to know someone who has caught Covid and/or died from it. Makes sense in rural or small town America that you will be less likely to have any direct or indirect experience with the virus. I live in a big city and know quite a few people that had it. One of my uncles lives in the country and, outside of my cousin who caught it, he knew no one. Said that prior to her getting infected, it felt like it never existed where he was. Meanwhile, I had multiple friends get it with varying levels of infection and didn't seem to matter about age or health, it affected people in different ways.

One, a 96 year old woman who fell and broke her hip and caught the rona in the hospital. No one else I know who got it really had any issues, including my 96 year old great uncle and 93 year old great aunt

0 died.
2 - my BIL in ATL (60 yo) and his son (25) both had it. Nephew breezed through it - BIL had to be hospitalized.
1 - fireman in my town (60 yo) hospitalized but recovering
I believe I had it in January - worst respiratory event ever for me. I later tested positive for antibodies.
I believe my wife had it in Dec 2019 - she works in a clinic and has a strong immune system. maybe where I got it... if I did

one of my better customer's neighbors died. he and i have different politics, but we get along great and know how to discuss differences in a friendly way. he's been a person taking coronavirus a lot more seriously, and while i disagree with his take, i'll be respectful of it.

This didn’t go as intended

My three question response to anyone who argues how "bad Covid" is:
How many people you know had it (in beginning, this was the end of argument, now most know someone who has)If answer is yes, move to question 2
Are they dead or alive? (if answer is "dead" move to question 3-
How old, unhealthy, and what underlying condition(s) did they have.
While just from a rednecks brain, batting 1000 when ask someone who disagrees with my stance on it those three questions.

i wouldn't say so. obviously i think the intention (which i don't necessarily agree with) was that it hasn't affected most people in a first hand way and that's true. definitely some outliers to that.
if the media hadn't told me covid existed, personally, I wouldn't even know there was a pandemic going on. not making light of that for the lives that have been lost, but the virus itself hasn't negatively affected any of my first hand connections.

If the media didn’t let you know and caused you to be ignorant of it, it would spread faster and more would be impacted.

Me too - I know 0 ppl
My spouse who works with the public knows 0 ppl who has had it - 0 people at the work place as well
I know of a nurse at a nursing home (not where I live) who has tested positive but had no symptoms - she doesn’t think she has it but had to quarantine anyway But she is now very skeptical of the whole thing
Of course my sister knew someone who had it but she works at the kind of of place where someone always gets the latest thing - be it an illness or a car or technology

Personally know, no one.
I know my sister in laws mom had it and it was brutal for her fat arse for 2 weeks but did not die. My sisters and mother have already gotten it and had mild symptoms(sisters work at Shands). Two friends had it, sick a few days then fine. I want to antibody test to see if I've had it as well.
