re: How is Talarico leading Paxton 51% to 48%?

Career austin government education employees like talarico?
Some yes. Some no. People with other jobs who have been on the board are not career Austin govt employees. I don’t understand why those are bad people though.

And here I thought you were going to tell Is something about his policy.
I already said I don’t know as much about policy on school related things. I’m sure I could list out ever position I agree with and you’d find a reason to make fun of them or say that they’re dumb as if every person should agree with you on everything.
There are also going to be plenty of positions or policies I disagree with. The DEI thing is dumb as NIH mentioned. Again, as I mentioned, I think Talarico has a tendency to over empathize with people. To me, that is a much better major fault than Ken Paxton who will do whatever his major donors tell him to do (see: Sorsby, Brennan) and is a career scumbag.
You’re allowed to vote only on policy. That is your right. I think character matters in terms of how the state and country is perceived as a whole. We can disagree on that.

Talarico is being coached to specifically take back many of the insane radical things he has said that he truly believes for this campaign. You can hate on Ken Paxton all you want but I know how he is going to vote in the Senate unlike the RINO he beat.
Talarico deep down is a DSA candidate all the way & he will vote exactly how he is told by the DNC. Talarico has serious mental problems. He is 100% for open borders like the prior administration did even though he claims he is not. You are a complete idiot if you can’t see through his campaign spin.

He’s an emotional child and honestly is likely female. He certainly talks like one. “Talerico really cares about my concerns and supports my values”. Honestly, when is the last time a grown man talked to you like that about another politician? Lol never

Apparently Paxton is pissing donors off in Texas. He’s been a lazy campaigner and they’re getting fed up.

Well , when you put it that way, Do you think that Paxton gives two shits about public schools or education unless there is some sort of angle that benefits Ken Paxton personally and translates into more money for him?
If you are really concerned about your kid's education get them into a Catholic or established religiously based school.
I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I love seeing people twist themselves into supporting Paxton who is pretty slimy....probably why Tracy Duhon is attracted to him

That’s a lot of words to not answer what I actually asked earlier.
I didn’t claim Paxton gives two shits about public education. I asked what Talarico specifically proposes to do to improve academic outcomes in Texas public schools. I got no answer other than a “people i know who may or may not have met him, says he means well”
Your response was essentially “Paxton sucks” and “send your kids to private school.”
Okay. Neither answers the question. And that’s a lazy AF response likely from someone who isn’t a parent.
And the “I don’t really have a dog in this fight” disclaimer immediately after taking up for Talerico. I see you. lulz.

Good thing the internet lives forever. Ken Paxton may be a slimy a-hole. But he is not saying stupid arse shite like abortion rights for the mentally ill.

same people that did polling for Beto vs Cruz. No way Texans vote in this guy as long as they show up and vote.

Well, Paxton is a crook. He beat the impeachment rap but you are probably pretty oily when members of your own party vote to impeach you.
I have 4 kids and 3 out of the 4 graduated from private school. If you think ANY politician can affect education for your kids then you should probably grow up and learn a little something about how things work.
If you are truly concerned, then my suggestion to put your kids in Catholic or a religious based school is your best option.

Thanks for the free unsolicited advice, old man. I think my plan of keeping my kids in one of the better public school districts in Texas through elementary school and then reevaluating private school around middle school will work just fine.
But you should probably reread the conversation before telling me to “grow up and learn how things work.”
I never argued that Paxton was going to improve my kids’ education. I was specifically asking a Talarico supporter what Talarico has proposed that would improve public education and academic outcomes. You invented an argument I never made and then decided to lecture me about it.
And yes, Paxton is a shitty candidate. I’ve said that repeatedly. I’m holding my nose and voting for him. What I can't figure out is: why are all you non-Texans are soo invested in this election? (rhetorical question)
Meanwhile, for someone without “a dog in this fight,” you’ve now taken multiple shots at Paxton while jumping in to defend Talarico without actually telling me what Talarico would do for public education either.
how Moderate of you...

Immigration has destroyed a shite ton of public schools in Texas. That is a direct result of political policy.
As I said earlier, nearly 1/3 of students in AISD can’t speak English.
San Antonio ISD is 25%
Houston ISD is 40%
Dallas ISD is 50%

These schools are now daycare for the 3rd world.

I'm not invested in the slightest and I think Talarico loses by 4-5 points. I personally don't care. You are talking about the educational system and are trying to understand why anyone would think Talarico is any better, Junior. My stance is you miss the point if you think any politician is going to be better than any other politician on this issue. When you come to the reality that they all give lip service, you come to the realization that your best option is to abandon the system as best you can.
......and Paxton is a sleaze.

Well congratulations sir, you’ve finally arrived at my original point.
I was asking why anyone believes Talarico would be better for public education and what specifically he has proposed to accomplish that. You jumped in "with no dog in the fight" to defend your boy Talerico, then told me no politician will fix it, told me to put my kids in private school, and capped that off by telling me to “grow up and learn how things work.”
Great. Then apparently your answer to my original question is: nothing. Thus, Talerico isn't the better candidate than Paxton because some random poster, may or may not know someone in Austin, who may know Talerico and says he's really invested in improving schools across Texas.
As my wife (a teacher says): any grown man, in this day and age, who chose teaching as their profession is either a loser or closeted pedo. Talerico qualifies as both.
And yes, Kiwi. For the fourth time, Paxton is a sleaze. ...but I'm still going to vote for him over the spineless Progressive creep.

Harris County GOP have essentially told him to frick off and quit begging for endorsements. Source: Me b/c I'm a part of it
He thought he'd coast in and now (allegedly although i don't buy it) 20% of anti-MAGA GOPers are turning to Talarico.
Would not be surprised if Ken fricked this up one bit. Most people who aren't in TX just assume he'll win b/c he's GOP. This is a far different race than Beto/Cruzio.

This race reminds me of Michigan's senate race with the crazy Dem candidate, but the difference is the GOP in Michigan is rolling with the establishment guy for a layup.

There is “No way in hell” I’m voting for that POS Paxton.
So a write in vote like that is an option,
besides Talarico.
