Palacios says she was in the process of renewing her brake tag in South Louisiana when a Louisiana State Trooper ran her identification. She said the trooper found an issue with her immigration status and told her that immigration agents had been alerted.

She said she met others who missed check-in appointments, filed documents incorrectly or were simply waiting for their cases to proceed through the immigration system.

The only crime the you can say we committed is that we entered the country illegally.
I got a ticket for speeding a few days ago. The only crime I committed was to break the speed limit.

Admissions Process: Undocumented students apply to LSU using the same Common Application process as other students.
Totally unacceptable. If you are illegally in the United States of America, you should be prohibited from admission to the University. Additionally, if an illegal does apply, LSU should be required to immediately notify ICE.

Be thankful you got an education here, likely off taxpayers.

Make sure we keep track of her. Those student loans need to be paid

While I understand her being detained when the cop’s routine check returned a warrant for a missed court date, everyone is glossing over the fact that SHE WAS 6 when her parents brought her here. She had no choice in the matter but, by all accounts, made something of herself.
Shame on the parents for not relentlessly pursuing a way to obtain legal status for her and putting her in the situation she now finds herself. What was she supposed to do? Turn 18 and self deport ?

How was she able to pass the E-Verify system?
Because people with pending asylum get work authorization. Work authorization comes with a SSN and all the same tax requirements a citizen has.
Why people refuse to learn that just because someone doesn’t have legal status in the US doesn’t mean the can’t work legally in the US blows my mind.

she does not have an H1B or a green card, she was not "hired" and ready to begin working as an RN. The background check for RN licensure (after you pass the NCLEX which you also need to have LEGAL status to sit for) includes both state and Federal checks of not only criminal and civil but the validity of your SSN which is directly connected to your "status" as being in the US which is either Legal or Not legal. Curious as to what paperwork she has been using both to get into school, sit for the NCLEX, student loans if applicable(Federal loan application would have picked this up)..etc., etc., quote:Palacios says she was in the process of renewing her brake tag in South Louisiana when a Louisiana State Trooper ran her identification. so a state trooper at some random brake tag issuing vendor just randomly checked her ID...yeah..OK the more plaussible story is she got stopped for some traffic violation and when they ran her name they found out she was wanted on an Order of removal because she missed her hearing in immigration court, which she probably missed because she knew she would be removed because she was here...illegally..
Everything you just posted is wrong.

Get pissed at congress for never fixing it. The laws are the laws and law enforcement need to... enforce them.
It's a shame our government doesn't allow for Congress to just pass a one-pager real quick to cover a scenario like this. We can only pass legislation through multi-thousand page long omnibus packages.
