Thank you and the other for the response.
I looked it up before my post and it made it sound like it just had to be shipped to a verified address. That was my concern. What was keeping firearms out of the hands we would all agree should not have them.

But how do you verify who is actually getting the online orders? If I am a 5 time felon and purchase a gun online using my grandmothers info what safeguard is there to stop me?
They don't send it to your house. It has to go to someone or some business with an FFL.
This is a common myth among anti-gunners. They think you just order from a website and a gun magically appears at your door.

My plan: No restrictions except age (18)

Welcome. It's just anti gun propaganda used by dems to make online sales look scary.

I wouldn't even say anti gun propaganda. My ignorance on this topic and probably many others would be based on not ever thinking about ordering a firearm online. I would rather physically hold most products that I buy versus a picture.

Raise age to 21 unless having been a member of the military.

None of that will reduce criminals from stealing guns and using them. Most mass shootings take place in places like Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore on a weekly basis. El Paso and Dayton are the outliers.

A ban for people under 21 also makes little sense. What if you are a single mom aged 19 who wants a firearm for protection, living in a bad area?
Or a veteran who spent 2 years on AD and is now a 20 year old National Guardsman?
These new gun laws are so freaking stupid.

Not old enough if 21 is the age. Can't buy booze till you're 21. What if a 19 YO who lives in a bad area wants to get blasted to make the night go faster? Would be too young.

Well, it used to be 10, but now they will probably go with 7 - 7 catches a lot more weapons

Remember those meeting notes I posted with a wish list of future gun-control laws? Almost every single one of these are on that nearly 30 year old list. If you think gun-control advocates are not playing the long game and will ever have enough gun-control laws until civilian ownership is outright banned then you are a fool. There is no compromising with them. They know these policies don't work, they'll keep adding more because they know incrementalism is the only chance they have.

The funny thing to me about the left on a great many issues that they react to with proposals is this.
Can they even articulate how they think these things would impact the events they are reacting to?
They just seem to put shite out there and not even remotely care if it will actually work. Just so they can say they "did something".
But let's look.

quote:I oppose, but exactly how would this prevent crime? I feel somewhat confident that a person planning to shoot up a school isn't terribly concerned if they find him afterwards using his gun registration(even if he actually followed that law)
A national licensing and registry system for guns and ammunition.
quote:This one is just unicorn shite. You don't even know where they all are. How are you going to make it "mandatory" to get them all?
A ban and mandatory buy-back program for "assault weapons".
quote:They don't even define this. 7 rounds? 20? 30? What?
A ban on high-capacity magazines.
quote:Not only wouldn't this work to stop even one mass shooting, the ancillary negatives are just hilariously obvious.
A federal version of Extreme Risk Protection Orders, commonly known as "red flag" laws
quote:This one just makes your head hurt? What is it even TRYING to affect?
A limit of one firearm purchase per month.
quote:
A ban on all online firearm and ammunition sales or transfers, including gun parts.
quote:Oh boy. Another "Czar"!!! Because all the previous times we did this, problem was solved!
The creation a "National Director of Gun Violence Prevention," who will report directly to the president.

The black market this creates will be larger than the drug trade.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess he neither defines assault weapon nor high capacity magazine.

His report every single month is one sentence:
The black youth community is out of control.

I've never seen them offer an actual compromise, and this is something that gets missed in a lot of these conversations. A true compromise involves BOTH parties getting something they want. If I tell you that you have to give me $20, and you protest and say screw that, it's not a compromise if I knock it down to $10.
There are things they COULD offer as a compromise; we could look at how the UK treats suppressors, for example, and get rid of our absurd, asinine treatment of something that OSHA would require if it was on anything but a firearm. Concealed carry reciprocity would be a nice offering. But they're not interested in compromise.

ALL online sales must be done through a licensed dealer and a background check conducted. It’s functionally no different than a gun purchase at a store.
EDIT: ATF INFO Unlicensed Persons

Getting "blasted" and protecting your family are completely different though, right? Not to mention one of them isn't protected by the constitution.

Want to see a program's head explode? Inform him and the rest of the idiots that its possible to purchase online a fully functioning ready to fire C&R rifle or pistol and have it delivered right to your front door, but USPS, UPS, etc....
No transfer TAXes, no further NICS check, no BS......
