Senate Republicans set a new precedent in 2016 for election-year Supreme Court vacancies.

And that new precedent, which they all defended incredibly passionately, is to wait for the next president.

There was nothing new about what they did. Hillary is ignorant or lying. My bet is on lying.

She should've never run and we wouldn't be in this situation.

And since the next president was a Republican, there is no need to wait now. It’s simple, elections have consequences. We all know that.

Oh, so now instead of doing what has always been done, they're setting a "new precedent"...

If the Dims had the Senate right now, would they let a Trump nominee go to a vote? You know the answer.

Very, very active. She still has an army of aides to post on her social media accounts. That's a first time I've seen a failed presidential candidate do that. Normally a failed candidate just fades away into the background.

Except it has been done like 17 times, but whatever.

What is rare is to have one in a year where the President's party does NOT control the Senate. It was Joe Biden who suggested that shouldn't happen and Mitch, God bless him, agreed in 2016.

This ISN'T a change. This IS the rule - confirm in a year where the President's party controls the Senate.

Of course, the Rs could have just brought Garland's nomination up and then destroyed him with slander and libel in the press and voted him down. But, then again, Rs are not Ds (Mitt, McCain, Flake, Murk and Collins notwithstanding).

In 2016 we were guaranteed to have a new president. Not the case in 2020. But Dems love trying to compare apples and oranges.

I believe the new precedent is actually them following the Biden rule.
