What people don't realize, sometimes, in local elections, you have to run as a certain party to have any chance to get elected.
Helena Moreno is a progressive through and through. She is also smart, competent, organized, informed, motivated, engaged with the issues and most importantly she is qualified for the job. She will be a professional and treat the office with the effort and respect it deserves. Nobody is going to like everything she says or does or tries to do but she will be an extraordinary improvement for the city and I couldn’t be happier that she won given the options available

Have ALL the Republicans left for safer places? Or have they just given up voting?

the two worst elected officials in the modern history of New Orleans were replaced yesterday with competent and qualified people. Today is a good day and the voters of the city should be congratulated

Should be fun to watch.
From a distance.

This board is going to take the news hard. They were convinced Oliver Thomas would win as a convicted felon. As usual the OT was totally clueless.
Well on their defense, she will probably become a convicted felon after her term just like a bunch of other NOLA mayors

Too bad she can’t terminate the DA and criminal court judges and replace with competent people.

yet another mayor of a major, American city who wasn't even born in this damn country.
the agenda is comical at this point.
Yeah, we need to rid our government of the Canadian influence of Texas Senator Ted Cruz

Jason Williams is a problem quite obviously but Liz Murrill has him under her pointy heel at the moment and she’s not going to let up. There’s a clear power play going on between her and the criminal justice system in New Orleans and she’s going to win. Landry is a pancake but murrill is a force to be reckoned with. Unwinding decades of incompetence will take some time.
With a competent mayor straightening out basic city services (Moreno will do that I’ve no doubt), morale in the city will improve while the state assists in law enforcement (both arrests and prosecution). All we need New Orleans to be is competent and safe. I’m optimistic

The republican candidate has a 50 year long CPA career and received far less votes than a convicted felon
never change New Orleans

I'm more disturbed by Hutson getting 17% of the vote.
She makes Teedy look competent and that's almost impossible to do.

They've moved to neighboring Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes. They've been largely replaced with liberal blue state transplants. And since the AAs have always been Democrats, you're left with an electorate that is about 82% Democrat. In fact that's about the percentage that Biden and Harris won Orleans Parish by.

This board will bitch regardless
