Also, I thought about you a few weeks ago. My wife's grandfather was in the Pacific theater (Navy) during WW2 (actually just before and then through WW2). She went through some of his old stuff, looking for things from his time to give to our niece (graduate from USNA, currently serving and looking to make a career of the Navy). Along with his hat, medals, sword, documents for first time crossing the equator (can't remember the name of the ceremony) and a booklet about "dunking" (the term at the time for ditching your plane in the ocean), there was also a map of Tinian Island dated July 5, 1944. It was marked "Confidential" and had their intel on Japanese defenses on it (it was 2 or three pages long so it was a more detailed rendering of the island in black ink with the Japanese placements in red).

That was amazing. My son and I laughed our asses off when the cane beating started up. Honestly that dude is lucky they didn’t feel the need to break out a kirpan and finish him.
