Are the vaxxed getting the virus? If the answer is yes then they are also spreading the virus.

My dad and I barely talk, I wished him a happy birthday and Father’s Day via text, that was it, it’s mostly my fault, he had TDS. I grew up thinking he knew shite, but the whole Trump thing helped me to understand why a lot of things were the way they were. Like most libs, he’s a narcissist

Sucks man. This will pass. I mean not the COVIDianism and totalitarianism. But your family stuff will be resolved.

Also, even tho we all are adding our two cents. The OP has to deal with this. I am merely suggesting that he is probably as passionate about the subject as his father and should find a way to amend the situation kindly.

I probably needed to say that in a better way. I understand what dealing with family can be. One of those people I was referring to is an in law.

Good luck for you.

I had to tell my dad to stop pestering me about getting the vaccine. Our discussion was getting confrontational one day at the pharmacy and that’s when I told him we weren’t ever talking about it anymore.
I’m grateful that he hasn’t brought it up since because it would of put a strain on our relationship.

My mom started telling me to get vaxxed after that bitch got on tv and said all your children will die from Delta.

I looked her in the eyes and said I’m not getting this fricking vaccine and that’s it. Luckily my mom is a conservative or at least respects my boundaries as an individual. she never brought it up again.

No one brought it up at Christmas either.

My father-in-law is a retired doctor and ran the Pfizer clinical trials here in Birmingham. My wife had the same conversation with him about a month ago. She told him if he was going to bring it up every time they spoke, that she wouldn’t be speaking to him anymore. To his credit, he’s dropped it.

That is sad, and I agree it’s your choice to get or not get the jab, but please try to reopen communication with your Dad. Surely you can come up with someway to divert the conversation away from this subject. Good luck to you, I hope your Dad cools it.

wtf. Everyone admits that the vaxed spread the virus.

quote:

just like no one can prove that if you are vaxed it lessons your symptoms and or prevents pneumonia

also wrong. This is easy to prove, and they have. The only question is how good the data is. But, I think the general consensus even among those that question the need and efficacy of the vax is that it did provide a level of protection from serious illness for a small period of time. This was prior to Omicron where the outcomes seem almost identical.

People talk to their parents a lot more than me.

Starting to realize I’m the odd one.

I routinely go 4-6 weeks without interacting with my parents, and 2-3 months with my brother.

Sorry you and your dad aren't talking. But it goes two ways. Some that are rabid anti-vax can be as ferocious. They blame the vaxed for spreading the virus under false pretense.
cajunangelle, is that actually you?

We had a rabid anti-vax story in my subdivision. 43 year old female - ultra-marathoner type. From the beginning, she was not only hardcore anti-vax, but also insisted the entire thing was a hoax. Her family begged her to get vaxxed. It did get heated (which is why I responded in this thread in the first place).

Well, she ended up getting delta - and it was but a 96 hour start to finish experience where she died a pretty gruesome death. However, in her last moments of lucidity, she doubled down on everything...including the virus being a hoax.

I don't know - it just seems like this thing has broken some people's minds. That's why I'm counseling the OP to try to find a way to still maintain the relationship, even though his dad is being inappropriate.

This lady's family are very VERY angry at her - but also devastated at her passing. Being human is messy.

Covidien's are a product of the finest propaganda ever put forth by the US Gov't - and that's saying a lot.

ETA: Global effort is more appropriate. Ole britches-shitter is too fricking stupid to do this on his own.

I agree that it should be your body, your choice, but it is somewhat unsettling and frustrating to see close family members that refused to get vaccinated end up in the hospital from Covid complications while other close family members (that received the Vax and in some the booster, also) just get a mildly irritating cough and some body aches for a few days.

Whether someone does or doesn't should still be a personal choice, but I understand why someone like your father, wants their loved ones to avoid health complications. Otherwise, everyone else, as far as I'm concerned, if they die, they die.
