Glad there were no black people in line when I went there.

See my post. That encounter happened in Downtown Augusta in front of Riverfront Pub 12 or 13 years ago.

Yes, I've seen racists acts before. Had them done to me too.

Can't wait to see a thread populated by 25-75 year old white males from Louisiana who will all claim never to have seen one.

Damn! Yes, the old "I have black friends...I can't be a racist" or, even worse, racism does not exist because as a white man I have never seen it. Gotta love it....

Why does it have to not exist at all??? Why is that the bar y'all claim exists? Why not "yeah, it probably exists, I am white and therefore not in a position to say for certain but lots of black people seem to be of the opinion that it does and, knowing some of those black people and knowing they are of good mind and character, I would suppose it is entirely possible". Why don't any of you ever just be honest...if you are white who are you to say what a black person experiences in life? Given that many black people who are otherwise, by all outward appearances, smart, hard working and capable, usually tell another tell, is it remotely possible that that man or woman is in a better position to make that call???

I saw a friend of mine who is a resident of Florida fill out an absentee in 2016 and he voted for Trump! I am still having to go to therapy for it.

I surely have, quite a few times, but the overwhelming majority of those times it was black people racist towards white people.

Both my grandfather's used the "N" word often and it would make me cringe. However, they would've given the shirt off their backs for a black man if necessary so I never understood it.

Last week, my son made an amazing comment "Dad, I have been on this earth for 30 yrs and I have never seen an act of racism"

Your son is full of shite
I don’t think racism is a huge problem anymore, but I’ve witnessed blatant racism - from blacks as well as whites - hundreds of times. Hell, I’ve seen David Duke give a speech in which he goes on and on about racial purity and the inferiority of blacks.

Surely your son watched the news when Central Park Karen tried to use that dickhead’s race against him.

Of course he is full of shite...probably never said anything of the sort....but if he did he is full of shite. It is not possible to go through life without seeing some hint of racist acts.

Was the poor brain dead bastard in a coma in 2015 when a gunman opened fire in a church full of black people in South Carolina because they were black??? If he is mentally challenged then he should be given a pass but if he ain't you should have told him he was a fricking liar.

When I went to college I met Yankees for the first time. I was disgusted to hear that this guy from Massachusetts I met used to go to black neighborhoods with a baseball bat and knock down mailboxes.

It really made me mad, because just a year prior to that I was going to black neighborhoods and dropping my friends off after football practice.

I’ve definitely seen people call names (mostly behind closed doors 99.9999%) but those are just words.

The irony. No, we hardly ever encounter racism. This is it, BTW.

Sometime last year I was in a regions bank in Baton Rouge and a Hispanic woman was trying to send A western union to Honduras - the black teller told her she couldn’t understand her - the Hispanic woman was speaking English - although not too well but you had to be a dumb arse not to be able to understand plus most of it was written down - well the Hispanic woman started crying and another black teller came out and said ‘we can’t understand you, go somewhere else’

Well I had had enough plus I was on my lunch break and it was taking way too fricking long - so I spoke to the Hispanic woman in Spanish and ‘translated’ - the two tellers glared at me the whole time - when the woman left they said ‘you people all stick together’ and I said ‘what people? I’m not Hispanic’

I've often wondered how their kids reconcile our neighborhood and our local police vs what they see on TV in a few cities. Must be hard to be a black parent at times.

Seriously...whether there is any truth to any of it or not imagine the fear a black parent must deal with when their son leaves the house in a car....seriously. There may be nothing at all to it....thats not my point....the perception is that it can end badly. Its bad enough to imagine your son doing something stupid and winding up dead in a wreck....but regardless of the truth or the situation a black parent has to think about their son being shot or somehow killed by police as well as in a car wreck. Or by someone they know or kind of know who has it out for someone they are with....I truly feel for black parents. Either way, real or misperception, I truly wish they weren't faced with that extra fear....

Spent quite a bit of time in Asia, so..... yeah a bunch of it. Americans have no clue what real racism looks like.

So it'd be akin to asking "has anyone here actually died in a plane crash" and suggesting that plane crashes don't really happen because no one says they have indeed died in a plane crash....I'll accept that.

Rural gas station and lunch cafe here has segregated seating. White farmers at big table, blacks in back room.

Not really enforced but more understood
