How does anyone have a child who wears a hazmat suit to school and gets hospitalized ( LINK) for threatening classmates and you don’t have his arse in therapy?

Preface, I don't watch local or national news on any platform.
How are they labeling him a white supremacist? Guessing his parents being State employees are not white supremacists. Just seems odd that if he was a white supremacist his parents would have known something.

They knew something. Prior to his first medical intervention for being crazy he beheaded a cat in their garage and the mom helped the kid bury the cat in the backyard. Not saying the mom condoned killing the cat, just pointing out that maybe mom and dad could have taken that signal as a time to get him some help. (Maybe they did and we don't know about it.)

How a kid raised 200 miles away from where he might come into contact with any sizable concentration of black people, can somehow at 18 become conditioned to hate black people so much that he wants to randomly kill a large number?

Not only did he wear a hazmat suit and threaten the school, but he also beheaded a cat. A cat his mom helped him bury. His mom needs to be in jail (not sure about his dad).

Holy cow! How does a mom not immediately take him to a shrink? He was obviously showing signs that he could be danger to himself or others.

Where?? I don’t know if you have noticed but they have closed all the mental institutions over the last 10-15 years or so.
There are only 5,419 inpatient psych bed’s available in New York state as of 2020. I’m sure it’s even less now and there were years long waits. This is what happens when you close all the mental health facilities in the US and put these people on the streets.

As pointed out, the guy who perpetrated the shooting lived far away from any concentration of Black people to the point where he had to google where Black people were located in high numbers.
Where exactly would he have been exposed to any high number of Black people?

They closed down the old sanitariums through depictions like One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and transitioned the mentally ill to the community to save money. Which creates the “homeless crisis” because a LOT of those people were completely incapable of taking care of themselves or holding down a job.
Trying to get anyone a bed in a mental facility these days is extremely hard because these inpatient facilities tend to be so discouraged by the culture at large.

And the only one who did anything was his teacher who called the cops and he was taken to the ER and held involuntarily for a psychic evaluation. I have not read the ER doctors’ notes or the psychiatrist or corner who saw him in the ER, but I am willing to bet he was discharged with a follow-up appointment with a psychiatrist. He didn’t follow-up on that application from what I have read. If you’re a parent picking up your son from an ER where he was held against his will for a psych evaluation, how the f**k do you not make sure his arse is at that follow-up appointment?
