First vetoed the “heartbeat bill” criminalizing abortions after fetal heartbeat is detected.

In 2016, Gov. John Kasich vetoed a bill prohibiting abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected

NYT

Now he threatens to veto the “Stand your ground bill that just passed the House.

quote:

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican who now supports what he calls common sense gun control, has promised to veto the bill if it reaches his desk

Has he changed his affiliation from Jack Daniels to Crown Royal is the better question.

I don't really want Stand Your Ground in Ohio so I'm fine with this.

The largest part of the bill changes the burden of proof to the prosecution in self defense cases. As it should be. You are innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.

Really though, it’s a sad state of affairs that in this great nation we even need “stand your ground” laws... that should be the de facto law anyway.

So you don’t want people to be able to defend themselves?

Why do people care so much about abortion? It’s about the 36,529th most important political issue, in my opinion.

Why do you people care so much about murder?

FIFY

Odd question, btw. Most folks think murder is bad, and most folks love babies...but somehow murdering babies is ok...

The best part is how they are so terrified of the demographic changes in the country yet if abortion had been illegal this whole time the Republican Party wouldn’t even exist right now.

Abortion is a winning policy for the GOP.

Kasitch might challenge DT in the Republican primaries in 2020, especially of Flake doesn't.

He'd embarrass himself. Running to the left of the incumbent Republican is retarded

Long time reader, first time poster.
You guys don't get it. That MAGA stuff isn't going to work in 2020. I'm a life long R. I've never voted democratic and I'm not young. But MAGA is so despised across all of urbia and suburbia that republicans better find an alternative to Trump, reflect upon and revise their messaging or risk becoming extinct. Look at the loss of congressional seats in California, losses in Nevada and Arizona and the remarkably close races in Texas, Georgia and Florida (and loss in South Carolina). It ain't going to get any better in 2020 with Trump.

So Kasich is at least an alternative. We need alternatives.

Sometimes...and I know y’all have trouble with this because it is built on morals, but it’s better to be against something because it’s the right thing to do than to let something you don’t believe in continue just because it will benefit you.

Not to mention ground lost in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, ground MAGA took in 2016. So I'm telling you the landscape is not favorable. Just call me the experienced voice of reason.
