Half of Americans think they are the best person they know, and majority are good people

How can there be so much hate and animosity against opposing groups in America, while simultaneously thinking the large majority of Americans are good?
The belief that man is basically good is an anti-biblical lie and is the root of many misconceptions.

Almost half of all Americans believe they’re the best person they know, a new survey suggests. In a recent study of 2,000 U.S. residents, 81% said they believe that humankind is inherently good, and three in four (75%) believe they’re fundamentally a good person. But when asked how they would compare themselves to others in their life, 46% went a step further, admitting to a belief that they’re “better” than everyone else they know. The survey was conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by Behold Retreats, a wellness company that specializes in the therapeutic use of plant-based medicine to aid in personal and spiritual growth. Broken down by gender, female respondents were less likely to think of themselves as good (67% vs 86% of men), and more likely to believe that humanity is bad (20% vs 4% of men). Only 55% of Millennials believe in the goodness of humanity; respondents between the ages of 25 and 39 were also least likely to claim to be a good person (68%) and the most likely to say they “didn’t think in terms of ‘good’ or ‘bad’” (12%). Respondents were most likely to say that a good person should be kind (49%), giving (45%), and friendly (41%) — but when asked to list which qualities they wished to have, respondents wanted to be more successful (38%) over anything else, even happiness (21%). "People still make the mistake of thinking that success precedes happiness, or that success and happiness come from the outside, but it doesn't." said Behold Retreats founder Jonathan de Potter. "Success and happiness are the natural result of doing the inner work to understand ourselves better, recognize our unique gifts and strengths, and aligning to our true purpose."

Because there are 5% of people that have a vested interest to divide us and they are the bad people. They’re authoritarian twats who hope the idiots fall for the narrative.

Progressives have this really strange, but interesting, mix of mental illness, arrogance, and self loathing.

Narcissistic attitudes, microwave society, multiple lines of global communication

I'm definitely not the best person I know. Could name 100 other better people, but I'd say I am a good person. Interesting that so many people think so highly of themselves. Actually concerning to me.

I already knew this, obviously...
But seriously, what a perfect example of how narcissistic the country currently is. Either you happen to be pretty fricking awesome, you have only shitty acquaintances, or you vastly over estimate how great you are.
I'm thinking #3.

because the large majority of americans aren't filed with hate. that's the minority. all of the crap is just an illusion created by the media. they are responsible for all the bs that has happened.

Well reality is going to be the flip of the belief. The half that think they are the best people they know are definitely not the best people they know.
The half that aren't, probably have a higher chance of being the best person they know.

I want to believe most folks are good but, I've seen the best amongst us do some evil shite.

Well, the bible was written by man and contradicts itself subjectively on many occasions throughout.
It's easier to look down on people than to bring them up.
Glass half empty half full prospective.
Can't have "them" having more than me.

Yeah. I'm pretty much aware of how much of an a-hole I am.

I’m not even sure I’d say I’m a good person because to me being “good” is framed on how others see you. I’m a very ruthless, or a gentler word would be pragmatic, person which most people don’t see as good.

Falling for the tricks of elites controlling the flow of information. Pretty simple actually.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say man is inherently good. It’s completely consistent on that point.
And yes men wrote it. Did you expect a magic pen to do the writing on its own?

My gf is the best person I know. She puts up with me

Maybe to this point but, it is written by men who acknowledges themselves to be sinners so, why believe what is written within?

There you go talking down, great work Rev.
Most folks would rather hear a lie than the truth. Probably one of many reasons, I don't play well with others.
