Though grocery prices are up, they are actually more affordable. What kind of stupidity perverse economic theory is this? I assume they are presuming that second job is making it easier to buy them now, but what about senior citizens and people on fixed incomes. Try explaining to them how the more expensive groceries are actually cheaper now. All you lazy people have to do is get a second and third job and then you will see they are not as expensive.

Real wages, that is wages as compared to inflation, is down compared to pre-pandemic.
That means everything is less "affordable". Author is trying to be tricky with that word. Just a little bit of digging it backfires.
And, referring to my previous post in this thread, if anyone was wondering where illegals (and legal's) remittances come into play in this discussion:
- Those wages in the real wage calculation are wages paid by employers, not wages earned by labor. So if that wage paid leaves the US, that real wage calculation is skewed and is actually lower than what is believed. It's another issue created, and then masked, by illegal immigration.

So the lunch that went from 7.99 in 2019 to 15.99 in 2024 is a figment of my imagination?

Take out the top 10% of wage increases and get back to me.

I don't remember the price of eggs back in 2019, but seeing the basic general dozen version at the grocery today in the 3.50 range this morning didn't seem normal to me. just sayin...

What is causing "affordability"? It's inflation, retard. Now try again. Inflation due to your party's religion.

For the average U.S. worker, it now takes fewer hours of work to afford a week’s worth of groceries than it did five years ago, in August 2019.
Now factor in the inflation on everything else and redo your math

Food is less affordable.
Objectively, anyone thinking differently is a waterhead.

They are "about as affordable". But not really "as affordable", and not "more affordable".

Imagine not understanding the basic economic principles of how inflation is measured and trying to apply macro level numbers to just a single item… it’s either intellectually dishonest or just the signs of someone who has a hubris to their own intelligence, or lack thereof.

It is.

This is some next level gaslighting ...

My monthly billing summaries for anything doesn't support that BS.

They’re calculating this just like they calculate inflation. Take all the shite that continues to shoot up out of the equation and then claim how affordable stuff is.

1. No they aren’t.
2. Even if you believe this propaganda, you must believe grocery prices were too high in 2019. Why is it any more acceptable? Answer: it isn’t.
