your question is as appropriate as the others on here.

Humans have only been recording weather history for a fraction of time, so how do we know this is not a normal loss of ice every 100,000 years?

Pretty much as reliable as anything SLATE publishes. I think the true believers will say SLATE has no political agenda. The rest of us will just roll our eyes and LOL!

Perhaps if we reduced the number of humans on the planet we could get carbon emissions under better control. Israel is doing their part in the fight against global warming.

go attack the study then.

Slate is definitely left leaning. But the science isn't political, as much as you want it to be.

I have a quasi-answer.

It is all part of a natural cycle that we do not fully understand.

we see things today and give them more credence because it wasn't like that yesterday; but when you look at it all through an extended period of time; it is really insignificant.

I remember the reports of Armageddon, and we'd have multiple Cat V hurricanes in the Atlantic basin on a regular basis because of Global Warming.

I remember stories of heat waves in the USA which were supposed to be the mother of all heatwaves only to find out they'd had much worse as recently as the 1930s.

Each weather event becomes "proof" of climate change; when extreme weather events happen each and every year all over the globe in some form or fashion.

The fact is climate has always changed, and whether or not man is part of the change means little because we've seen all of this before anyway.

We need to be careful not to pollute and we need to be cognizant of changes around us and adapt to them. We can't beat mother nature, we can only live with her each and every whim.

Here is a dumb question I have, how can we have so many more roof tops, black tops, roads, and parking lots and not have a warmer surface temperature year after year?

All I know is we didn't build that.

it does affect local temps, I don't know about globally. There is a lot of green in this world.

Check this out. There is no more ice here either! How much in taxes do I need to pay to refill it?

The US electorate will deserve everything it gets if it falls for this re-distributive scam.

Hmm. While we're at it lets fill the Great Lakes back up with ice too. I guess mammoth farts were the culprit for that ice melting. Damn mammoths.

That article had nothing to do with science.

How much ice should there be?

The answer to that depends on how much you'd like sea level to rise.
