No, cab drivers are being hurt by Uber and Lyft who are quickly making cabs obsolete. Last time we needed a cab we still couldn't get one after a whole hour of waiting! With Uber, 15 min and much better rates.

Did you have a family?
Also, I feel a lot of people have this narror view of what consistutes a federal employee and who actually feels the affect of a shutdown.

Your situation sucks, I have empathy for you and others. My mom worked for the federal government so I understand. That being said....I hope, after the various other shutdowns in years past, that you learned to save in case of emergencies like this shutdown. Until we have a real budget, this will always be a potential problem for government employees. Good luck, I hope the Democrats come to their senses and open government with border security funding.

Trump said he wouldn't blame the Democrats for the shutdown. Why do you disagree with your dear leader?

This cannot be said enough. I have a hard time feeling sorry for these folks. It would be like getting a job sucking shite out of port-a-cans and complaining when i get a little poo on my hand. They knew what they were getting into.

Why do you hate the Constitution?

Way to rebuild the military....
All of these negatives are simply because the democratic house wants to play politics rather than give the president something he is asking for.
We are talking about 1/10th of 1 percent of the budget. Let that sink in. Democrats are digging in their heels for a VERY, VERY reasonable request on a subject that is VERY, VERY important to the American people.

Technically they won't be missing a paycheck. That paycheck just will be late.
Further, if the average government worker is making $65,000 per year, not including health insurance fringes (that I assume are not cancelled from non-payment), after taxes the take home for a two-week pay period is $1875.
I'm broke as shite, but I could hack that for at least a few pay periods before I start to worry.
At some point they will get it back from their employer,us. The same people who got laid off in '08 thru '12, with no hope in a tough economy, and lost their health insurance when the prices tripled.
What makes this even better is that every article I have read includes a sad story from an IRS employee. It is as if the MSM wants galvanize us against government employees.

These are the same people that think bailing out wall street and Detroit are among the greatest things a president has ever done

I didn't see you thanking Obama for bailing out the American auto industry and saving thousands of jobs.
That wasn’t a bailout. That was a payoff/kickback scam. With taxpayer dollars.

Trump is on video saying he won't blame the democrats for the shutdown. You can make believe the video doesn't exist but it does.

I got a few self employed folks you need to speak with who barely survived from 2008-2016 you need to try and hand that tear stained handkerchief too.
These Liberal/government workers will never understand how bad Obama was.
Obama caused all of this crap. His "elections have consequences" comment , then his actions.
1. Obamacare , ruined employer provided healthcare for many.
2. Regulations , ruined a good paying industry (coal). Companies hesitated to hire because of his BS.
These people (Liberals and government workers) didn't care because it didn't impact their lives.
Now we finally have a president who has some balls , and he impacts their lives and we are supposed to care.
Liberals and government workers , your Messiah Obama said it , "elections have consequences".

Not if you live in a major urban city. And again, what about contractors? They won't get back pay.

These are private companies being directly impacted by the shutdown, read it and then comment.
