This is sad news indeed. I did not vote for her, but I always thought that she is a very nice person who wanted to do the best that she could for her vision of the state. I know that she was a devout Catholic--I saw her in Mass regularly in Baton Rouge. I wish her the very best and will be praying for her.

Didn't like her politics but I have sympathy for her and her family.

Prayers for all.

Sad to hear, Governor Blanco was well intentioned despite being blindsided by Katrina. Seems like a very kind woman and a good public servant, regardless of her political feelings.

She is a business associate's aunt. He organized and drove a hurricane relief caravan of 18 wheelers from Sac, Ca to N.O. back in the day and she rolled out the carpet for him. Nice lady with questionable politics.

I think she was a nice person and did the best she could under very difficult circumstances. I remember thinking at the time, if Foster had still been Governor, things would have been handled better.

On a side note, I once met one of her daughters, she was .

That’s legit nonsense. In no way was she a leader.

Prayers sent for her either way however.

She may have been in way over her head completely screwing up the response to Katrina but I would take Kathleen Blanco over JBE right now in a heartbeat.

She and the rest of her family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope her last days on Earth are as comfortable as they can possibly be.

My Mother worked for Governor Blanco when she was Lt. Governor. I met her and her family several times and they are good people. She was a solid Lt. Governor, but wasn't qualified to be Governor. Unfortunately, the populous of Louisiana is terrible at electing politicians and many people perished during Katrina that shouldn't have.

From a viewpoint of an outsider to La, this fits exactly what I thought of her. Sorry to hear.

The one thing she did right was make sure and got the Superdome back in working order. That's more than what most of our governers have accomplished

Sad to hear. frick cancer. I have no hate for Blanco. Plenty of pity. She was just an unqualified woman thrust into a terrible situation she couldn't manage because she was already in way over her head.
