pledge is the best thing you can do. It makes them go on record with a commitment so if they want

Parties do this sort of thing all of the time. A candidate just can’t go in and exploit the resources of the Party, and then refuse to participate in the Party’s process. It will suppress donors and your Base’s enthusiasm, if they feel that they are not being offered the chance to see how candidates interact with each other, make their positions known, defend them, and go after the other guy.

Disgusting how Trump’s failure to understand and practice loyalty has infected his cult members as well. They can’t even bring themselves to say we should all agree to unite behind the GOP winner to get Biden out of the White House.

Edit: and to be fair, I’m not seeing any DeSantis guys in here but me saying this. This is one issue about this primary we should all be united on.

Or else you will probably lose the general election if you get the nomination because people like me aren’t going to stand for it.

You’re ok if any of the GOP candidates decide to run third party when they don’t win the GOP nom?

This Trump loyalist thing is dumb. Many people think he was an incredible President and had the economy rolling, foreign policy on point, and was the first R to bring up the most important issues…. until the Virus was released. Also, people feel like Trump has been treated differently from the jump. So when the Bush team comes out for DeSantis, it’s like WTF, that’s the same family that pulled for Hillary over Trump. The media, Rinos, and Dems create Trump loyalists, but it’s probably only about 10%. The other 90% are just tired of the political class screwing them over and don’t want anyone associated with the Bush, Cheney, Romney, Ryan crowds. DeSantis needs to tread lightly with those backers or he will get blown out.

I put my country above party.

The founders warned against parties.

They can be useful, but they should never be regarded than more than a means to an end.

A tool.

A vehicle.

A religion, but not a God.

It’s not hard to understand.

If he says he’s part of the team then I’ll back him 100%. If wants all the privileges of being on the team but likes the idea of screwing the team over if he doesn’t get the nom then he can go frick himself.

The thing is, is that Parties are inevitable. If everybody got along, there’d be no wars or divorces. Same thing with politics. If everybody got along, there would be no Parties.

You are right., Parties are tools, and they are useful tools. Parties can die, or morph into other Parties. But you can’t have people saying they’re going to run in a Party’s primaries, and then undermine the Party by choosing to participate on your terms.

If that’s too much, then run as an Independent. The Party’s Base has a right to demand that the candidates participate according to the Party’s rules.

Agree.

That's what the Pharisees demanded of Jesus.
