The Republican National Committee is requiring presidential hopefuls to pledge to support the party's eventual nominee if they want to participate in the GOP's first primary debate in Milwaukee on Aug. 23.

Question: Who do you currently support, and do you think they should make the pledge? If they make the pledge but then run third party anyway after losing the nomination, would you vote for them?

I support DeSantis and he should agree to the pledge. I would not vote for DeSantis if he ran third party.

Good. It's designed to make him publicly submit to the GOPe, just like when CNN tried to get him to lie and say that 2020 was legitimate - first question out of that bitch's mouth.

Based on his refusal to do so in 2016 that’s a definite possibility. I’m surprised news of this requirement didn’t make it to this board earlier today. It’s a pretty big deal. I think ultimately Trump will agree to it - he will get ripped if he doesn’t do it plus he’ll be left out of the debate obviously and he shouldn’t feel safe conceding that.

I would pledge at this moment in real time with the caveat that I can change my mind in the future.

You think it’s stupid to keep your party united so you can win an election?

Wut?

In 2016 the fear was that the gop wouldn't nominate trump even if he was the primary winner.

Prebus and Trump agreed that the gop would nominate him if he won and Trump wouldn't run third party if he didn't

I will go ahead and say this - if Trump doesn’t make the pledge I won’t vote for him in the general. I will campaign against his arse here in PA. I will ballot harvest against his arse as much as I legally can. He’s either on the team or he isn’t.

edit: what’s your problem downvoters? You’re ok with Trump crashing the party but not me?

Sounds like you're in no position to judge Trump. You're worse. You're going to take your ball and go home if you don't get your way. You're going to threaten the future of our country if you don't get mere words from someone.

Now you know what we all already knew: you're less principled, less selfless, and less patriotic than Trump.

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump held his own debate at some resort with a handful of candidates

“My way” = doing what I expect of every GOP candidate including my guy Ron DeSantis. If Ron refused then he’d lose me too.

I want him there on the debate floor. I want the candidates fighting it out to earn our votes. But it shouldn’t come with this requirement. This is BS.

YES

Do you think "your" party is united and that a pledge will do that?
