If in 2014 I told you that Trump would run for President and win it, you would tell me the same thing. Not saying she’ll win, but she’ll be absolutely vicious in the debates and as of this moment, I think she’s the third most likely person after JD and Rubio to get the nomination.
Off your antipsychotic it is.

Rubio is a political chameleon. In 2016, he was running basically on the same platform as Jeb Bush, his mentor. It’s not always necessarily a bad thing, but he is not wedded to a particular ideology.

And I got downvoted when I say I don't trust my former senator. He was one of the Turtle's boys, after all.

Let the RNC nomination process hash it out when the time comes. That’s how it’s supposed to work unlike DNC and Kamala.

Deal. I’ll do $200 with the same 2:1 odds.
I can’t see a podcast happening even though it would be great.

The problem that I am having with JD is how close he is with Tucker and his son. He really needs to cut off ties with them or he will be toast in 28 and we might be looking at a Rubio/DeSantis ticket
Vance is still my first pick but I'm getting uneasy about him with the way Tucker Carlson has been acting the past several weeks

Here's what I get from this....
Why aren't GOP Mega Donors doing something about RINO currently in office, or were those politicians put there by these donors?

This is not surprising at all. JD Vance is increasingly a man without a constituency. He's spent years building a coalition of post-liberals, natcons, integralists, and groypers who no longer feel affection for him because, as Trump's VP, he has to carry water for a foreign policy they despise. And yet the traditional wing of the GOP is not fooled by Vance at all, because he once claimed to be one of them before shifting hardcore against them. Everyone across the board recognizes Vance as a shallow hypocrite.
Rubio, meanwhile, has navigated the Trump era in a way that bends but doesn't break his principles. He has made himself invaluable to the second Trump administration and is seen as the most effective member of the cabinet, often begrudgingly, across the entire Trump coalition. And...he's palatable to traditional Republicans outside the Trump coalition.
Even from the onset of Vance's presidential ambitions, he could only carry a portion of Trump's coalition. He never had the chops to fully inherit what Trump built. And as the realities of governing have begun placing strain on the Trump coalition, Vance's share of that coalition has begun to shrink precipitously. Rubio, meanwhile, has navigated the moment in way that inherits a larger slice of the Trump coalition than Vance can, while reinvigorating the long-suffering Reagan coalition.
Rubio is simply and entirely objectively a better candidate than Vance is, and everyone but the die-hard, burn-everything-down types can see that...even if they might not personally prefer Rubio over Vance.
This sums it up well

Didn't Rubio say he wouldn't run if Vance did?
ETA
Yes he did.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated he will not run for president in 2028 if Vice President JD Vance enters the Republican primary, stating, "If JD Vance runs for president, he's going to be our nominee, and I'll be one of the first people to support him".
Yes he did.

Trump is going to hand Vance a $200 million plus cash fundraising advantage. Trump is still raising vast amounts of cash every month.

on paper, my views likely align more with vance's stated positions but i don't trust him whatsoever. he's a snake.
This is how I see it. For all Vance's talk about being a Christian, he marries a hindu. What is that about? And names his son vivek?
Vance is a trojan horse. He will be for unlimited indian immigration once he is in office.
At this point I am leaning toward Desantis. He has issue too but my current number one issue is "legal" immigration and how it is being used to destroy the white middle class in this country.

JD Vance grew up as poor white trash in one of the areas most impacted by globalism and the negative impacts on the American working class. He then overcame that, went to an Ivy League school, got a law degree and then became a Senator before being VP.....
you left out.."and then became a US Marine"

No shite. Only a total moron thinks Vance is a superior candidate.
frick, Vance himself is too smart to believe he can win an election in 2028.

He's reading into the wrong thing here. Vance is a anti-establishment guy backed by Peter Thiel and Silicon Valley tech.
Rubio is establishment, ran against Trump's populist movement in 2016, and his Sec. of State was approved 99-0 by the US Senate in 2024. Nobody is surprised at anything Rubio is doing in Iran or Ukraine
When Rubio gets scrutinized again in the primaries and returns to his establishment roots, the populist base will shift to back to Vance or somebody else running to the right.

Not tossing my hat in either way, but random thought. On the pace Trump is on, other than probably the lingering China/Taiwan conflict, who will still be out there for us to be at war with?

If it’s Rubio vs Harris or Newsom…I’d vote GOP for the first time in a long time.
Y’all may not think he’s MAGA enough, but he would appeal to moderates much better than Vance would.
