It's a good story and a great lesson, but the impression folks get from posts like this is that it happened recently. It's from 2017.

Not all hero's wear capes, some just drive a normal vehicle, work 9-5, and have a concealed weapon license.

Can you even imagine if these types of stories were not suppressed by the media? Gotta wonder how many of these types of incidents between armed civilians and bad guys occur annually?

According to the report Obama had commissioned when he was in office (to prove how evil firearms are), they are used defensively at least as often as they are to commit crimes. In other words, at the bare-fricking-minimum of the range on defensive uses, it matches the amount of reported crimes where a firearm was used.

I wonder if those studies have an estimate for the number of times one was pulled, the aggressor backs down and everyone goes home alive with no police interaction.

I know of at least two times, when I was not personally carrying, I made others believe I was which I will always feel made them ignore me.

They relied on survey results because it's understood the vast majority of such instances go unreported. LINK

quote:

Defensive use of guns by crime victims is a common occurrence, although the exact number remains disputed

quote:

Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million

quote:

in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008

quote:

On the other hand, some scholars point to a radically lower estimate of only 108,000 annual defensive uses based on the National Crime Victimization Survey

It's been a long time since that report so I had forgotten the actual numbers.

No need for such a warning since it's in the post itself:

Which is unlike the recycles we see posted by rando social media accounts for clicks/views.

It’s old news then and not appropriate to post according to your own standards.

Anyone watching what is happening in Europe should firmly believe in keeping guns a right of our citizens.

We had a bunch of carjackings here until a citizen introduced a would be car jacket to his Colt Python .357. That ended the spree of carjackings and ended the punk as well.

I love a happy story.

That’s not why you never surrender guns…THATS not why.

Has nothing to do with the 2nd.

It’s a benefit though.

I specifically mentioned the timeframe (during the Obama administration) in my previous post (my standard is to not present rando social media posts which purposely do not include a timeframe so as to fuel rage-bait clicks/views by implying it's a recent occurrence).

But thanks for playing, we have some lovely parting gifts in the back.

(gift spoiler: I hope you like Rice-A-Roni)
