lol - it is the oldest sustaining culture on the planet. They had global trade before recorded history.
Miller should put down the Mein Kampf and read about how the Tang Dynasty created the Silk Road and how the Spice Trade propelled Europe into an era of exploration and colonialism which eventually led to America.

Do you really not know the difference between taxes and tariffs or are you just being obtuse and argumentative?
I’d rather not waste my time explaining them if it’s the latter.

Irrelevant unless your goal is to win e-arguments.
No one on the right is holding out hope for contrition from the left when Trump is vindicated so the beat goes on.

Example: An iPhone 15 cost Apple roughly $462 in R&D, parts, labor, and shipping according to Google. Why do they sell for $1400? Because idiots can't quit buying them. Same for most other similar products. You can get a 77in quality TV and a year's worth of streaming and internet for less than $1400.
Yep. The market sets the price. Not the manufacturer.

Its not an e-argument. One side is using objective fact the other, a lot of hoping and faith in one single man.
There has been a boatload of MODERN conservative views on tariffs posted in these threads and you folks refuse to even do the research.
Yall dont want a conversation; you want to "own the libs and rinos" but your tank has nothing in it but hope

I'm going to say one thing Schrub.
Your constant, never ending harangues make it difficult if not impossible for anyone to take you seriously.
In other words; Shut the frick up.
Yeah, you claim to be spreading the truth. Your truth. No one cares what you say at this point as you are annoying as frick and people tune your ignorant hippy arse out after the 500th post saying the same fricking shite.
Now, back to ignoring you.

Funny you should say that...
Duty vs. Tariff — What’s the Difference?

For the 9000th time. The tariffs are a means to an end as we negotiate more favorable trade terms.
If you still can’t see that then I don’t know what else to tell you.

There are 3-4 different statements Trump has made about tariffs and their purpose, including Fentanyl and illegals crossing the border.
There are various optional MAGA theories on this among your bretheren.
So, no, they arent just a negotiating tool

Not to be pedantic but that is duty vs tariff.
Here’s one way a tariff is not a tax. Taxes are itemized on the bill and cannot be paid by the seller. Its impact is on the purchaser.
Tariffs can be absorbed by the seller and may or may not be passed along to the consumer.
The impact of the tariff is to the behavior of the seller.

Well, one thing we can agree on, we’re gonna find out.

I’d love to hear your solution to the extremely high tariffs against the US? I don’t pretend to know the answer. Obviously Trump thinks it’s high tariffs against the other countries doing it to us. Does it work? I don’t know? America has been the world’s doormat forever so that didn’t work either.
Posted on 4/4/25 at 6:26 pm to RogerTheShrubber
What’s the solution? What do the economics textbooks say when the entire world is punishing you with high tariffs and America just allows it?

They won’t admit Trump is trying to facilitate more favorable trading terms. Their TDS won’t allow it.
And that is the source of all the consternation on this issue.

Yes.
What's the difference?
Spoiler Alert: They're both taxes.

Suppose you have an import business. Then one day the federal government shows up at your door and says you will now have to pay the government a percentage of all the goods you're importing. What do you call it?
It looks like a tax. It acts like a tax. It fricking smells like a tax.
We'll call it a 'leverage tool'!

List is on your receipt as a tax and see how that goes.

At this point the TDS has solidified the prog left into being the party of Wall Street over being a party of working class citizens. If we can sustain this for a year or so, it will be the end of the left as anything other than the party of woke college educated types and they will lose every election held. Get ready for the pressure offense of the elites, they hate it when you take their money and return it to workers.

They have no principles and so their platform can be nebulous.
