Churchill; warned FDR about the threat from Communism. FDR did not listen.

FDR was in a tough spot. Some Americans didn't like our lend/lease to Russia, and even more didn't want our young men sent to Europe to fight. I don't think Truman would've been able to pull off a war with the Soviets. We were done with war.

We should have reunified Germany after defeating the Nazis and went to war with the Soviets while they were weakened before they developed a nuclear bomb. Eastern Europe would be much better off today and it’s entirely possible the spread of communism, Cold War, Korean War, Vietnam war never happen and our out of control deep state never gains the foothold they have now since they were created and expanded to combat the Soviets

Also possible the CCP never takes over China and millions of innocents aren’t murdered by communists regimes in the 20th century

Most all may have played out similar to your thoughts but as usual the naïveté of democrat party as well as their ideology is more like communist than freedoms that come from capitalism

Who owns the media? All of it. Every major network. Every major radio station. Every major newspaper. Hollywood. Social media.

Who owns it all? What have they sought to do with all that power? Pervert and destroy America.

There is your answer.

Pretty sure FDR was ok with communism.

The Roosevelts were the oldest of old money in North America. In my opinion, Teddy and Franklin were trying to help save capitalism from itself. It involved dismissing laissez-faire ideology that pervaded US politics in the post-Civil War era/Gilded Age.

I think FDR imagined that they could fold the USSR into the global capitalist system. The USSR at this time had already retreated from socialism while Lenin was still living. They had a market economy and capitalism under strict state control. I believe FDR saw a path in the post war period for the USSR to have a second New Economic Policy that led them to a capitalist model closer to the New Deal/WW2/Boom US economy.

However, the US under Truman's administration failed to convince the USSR to join the Bretton Wood System/IMF and that essentially started the Cold War. I can't find the quote right now but the representative sent to Bretton Woods for the USSR said something to the effect that they didn't win WW2 only to be governed by bankers in New York. Honestly, none of the delegations at Bretton Woods particularly liked the system but only the USSR possessed the capacity to walk away from the table at that time.

People need to understand that the USSR, all the scare tactics about them from our politicians, etc. was essentially because they refused to be subservient to the US financial system. If we had offered a separate deal for the USSR that was more realistic about their geopolitical position at the end of WW2, there is a chance they'd moderated, liberalized their economy even more, and integrated into the global capitalist system much like China did since the 1970s.

Well, the Jewish roots of the Communist revolution were sprouted out of Russia, weren't they?

The problem with teaming up with the Russians is how they were successful in painting Fascism as worse than Communism even though they’re basically the same and the Soviets were doing much much worse.

100% True. Patton was disturbed at knowing the FDR-Churchill sell-out to Stalin and imminent enslavement and mass murder of those sacrificed in territories behind the Iron Curtain.

The idea that the US loves the communists and picked their side is dumb.

US Elites have always picked sides.

True "History" acknowledges an FDR administration and State Dept riddled with Communist sympathizers, conspirators and traitors.

Stalin and the Soviets were given near-carte blanche from FDR and the US., receiving billions in WW2 "war replenishments" and goodies (unknownst to Americans of course.)

There were a lot of pro-Soviet "progressives" in the Roosevelt administration.

Perhaps what should have been done was to not help either side and let Hitler become like a python trying to swallow an elephant.

Kinda true, the only races the Germans didn’t consider lesser were the English and Americans.

This isn’t true, Hitler referred to Americans as racially degenerate.

America isn’t a race. He said we would go down because of our diversity. Too many Jews and blacks.

He wasn’t talking about what he considered white Americans. Just that the country as a whole lacked racial purity. This was in mien kampf.

He blamed materialism on the Jews. And we had that here.

quote:

Hitler admired certain aspects of American industrial power and its history of racial segregation, which he referenced as a model for Nazi racial policies.

Some aspects of America he did like.

And just because the soviets were bad doesn’t mean the Germans weren’t either.

Exactly. Who'd have thunk even 15 years ago (the invasive "enrichments" begin @2015 I believe)

And then there's the waste of blood and treasure left on the beach and cemetery at Normandy where their ghosts bear witness to this disgraceful mockery and treachery of sacrifice.

They did indeed.

They also bankrolled the German war machine pre-WW2.

It's what they've done for hundreds of years -- back both sides of all wars, watch the blood flow, then pick up the discounted pieces while enriching themselves and wielding more political power over the world.

The Soviet Union enslaved, tortured and killed millions, yet we, President Johnson, gave them wheat when they had a crop failure.

How many billions have we spent on defense to fight the "Cold War".

Patton loved killing “the Huns” as he called the Germans but he also wanted to take out the Soviets after we defeated Germany. He thought the US Army was already in Europe and the soldiers were battle hardened. The Soviets had also taken horrible losses against the Nazis. We missed the perfect time to take them out.

Germany wouldn't have been defeated without the soviets. It would have been a bad look to attack them after the war. And it would have just ramped up the death toll by millions.

Stalin wad actually considered a hero by the American public after WW2. He was a celebrity. Churchill was summoned to give a series of speeches to help turn the public opinion of him. US intelligence knew they had partnered with a monster to defeat another monster.

Hitler hated capitalism. His argument was which was better to replace it, socialism or communism?

Bad look? Hundred of millions of Americans lived in fear of a nuclear attack during the Cold War with the USSR. 60,000 Americans died in Vietnam because we were scared the communists supported by the USSR would take over all of Asia. You don’t make historic geopolitical decisions because you are afraid of a “bad look.” Democrat men are the biggest pussies in the world.
