I'm pro abortion and pro gay marriage and this story absolutely disgusts me.

Progressivism is pushed because it requires you, and culture, to submit to the will of it's vision. And this goes all the way down to the individual. You can't ignore Pride Month. You must celebrate it to give them what they need to support their worldview. They have a feeling, and you must support it. The world for them is a play that they can reassemble at will.
And if the world doesn't match, then violence is an acceptable option to get it to.
They want to kill a human with a cleft lip because THAT did not match their world view And their Pride requires that they get their version of reality, no matter what. Everything can be sacrificed for that.

No, it's a pretty rational end goal to the progressive process. Especially with abortion. Terminating babies who might not be perfect is already done in a lot of places. Iceland terminates autistic kids regularly.

I'm in the camp that they're just trying to get out of compensating her. They would've made any ridiculous demands and accused her of anything in an attempt to get out of paying.
They're treating the surrogate the same way one may treat a fast food restaurant that accidentally put a drop of mustard on a hamburger that wasn't supposed to have any mustard. They want the burger anyway, and want it for free.
They probably knew beforehand that there was zero chance she'd abort the baby, that's why they demanded it.
