Gad Saad on Canadian Taxes

Federal income tax in Canada is capped at 33%. Quebec’s provincial tax adds another 25.75%. So no we’re already well into the 50s. But the income taxes are only the beginning. Every time you spend what’s left, you pay a double sales tax — combined federal GST and Quebec’s QST — at roughly 15%. Then add property tax, a carbon tax, a gas tax, and a school tax.
From January 1st until roughly the end of August, I work for free for the government.

Canadians are neither our friends nor allies. Let them rot.

Any country that borders your country is important.

We’ve been letting them rot for over 200 years.

Bizzaro world. Who wants to work under those conditions and on top of that, the government disincentivizes spending the money you have left?

but... "muh free healthcare!"

We looked into moving to Vancouver Island for its many positives.
The liberalism of the rest of British Columbia was a negative as was the way their federal taxes were composed on income from non-Canadian sources. Back then it would have been near impossible to track any money that came to us by the month and pay taxes on it at the end of each month.
There were more accountants in the phone book (yes, it was that long ago) than physicians.
I still wish I had a home near Otter Point overlooking the water with the Olympic Mountains magnificent at day break.

It’s so bad in Canada he’s moving to Oxford MS. You gotta be desperate.

Canadian taxes suck of course, but the. U.S. also taxes U.S. residents’ non-U.S. sourced income.

the Canadians voted for this … and now they’re getting it, good and hard.
Guess being a state within the US isn’t so bad now, eh?
Posted on 6/14/26 at 1:18 pm to the808bass
Here in the US, roughly 40% of every dollar I make goes to some form of tax. It isn't much better.
Yes, I did the math and took every tax I could think of into account when I made my statement above. Can't wait to get downvoted by the lefties that take while not making.

Sure the taxes are high but they’ll kill you for free if you’re ill.
