Yea you did the right thing. My wife was cut off from her sister because of her competing political views. My wife still is sad over it while her sister doesn’t give it alot of thought. Not the American way but in history the most cold hearted and heartless regimes has been the leftist socialists and the right wing fascists. It seems like they trade reality and life’s ups and downs for some little cocoon of political extremism. While life passes them by. Keep taking the high road.

Fortunately and unfortunately my kids may be more based than me. Sometimes to the degree where I talk them off the edge.
I’ve seen the world evolve into the white male hate, they were born into it. They have 0 tolerance for LGBT stuff, race baiting or modern day feminism.

My observation is that extreme and/or inexplicable behavior is normally driven by extreme and/or explicable cause.
What is explicable cause?
Behavior which would be deemed unacceptable in the home environment, especially addictive or unavoidable behavior (drugs, sexuality, body disfigurement, failure to attain expectations, etc). Some sort of home-based abuse which the party decides not to discuss with the rest of the home (physical, mental, sexual abuse).

Are you aware how few people on the street don't have a drug problem?
The vast majority of homeless have a sever drug problem.
No joking matter, if anyone's kid is almost going homeless they should immediately be sent to rehab.
To note the OPs daughter is no where near homelessness.

If she is not a drug or alcohol addict then she will find a way to survive. She may have to live at a much lower socioeconomic level but that would be the thing that a parent needs to allow when the child's politics lean towards supporting ideas which require it
