quote:

The former deputy campaign manager for President Donald Trump told a black Democratic strategist he was out of his "cotton-picking mind" while bickering on Fox News on Sunday morning. The comment by David Bossie, who now leads Citizens United, instantly drew backlash and caused Fox News host Ed Henry to issue an apology on air.

quote:

Payne appeared taken aback and said "lemme tell you something. I've got some relatives that picked cotton and I'm not going to sit here and allow you to attack me like that."

We’ve become a nation of wusses

Yes... when I was a kid, the term “cotton picking” was a substitute for “ mother fricking” ....
Had nothing to do with race.
The left is in desperation mode.

So..F-bombs and vulgarity...ok.

Use of common sayings over generations....bad.

Well, you do have to admit that, of all the idioms he could have used, that is probably one of the very dumbest.

When will conservatives learn that you don't apologize to raving lunatic progressives over their hysteria. You rub their noses in it. You would think they would learn from our president.

I pick a lot of Thai and Serrano peppers in my garden. You may not think it's hard work but you try popping your contact lenses in after work and you'll feel what pain is.

I know some white people who grew up picking cotton in the 50s. Cotton was big in the south even then but if you could afford harvesters you picked by hand. The whole family did.

Got a flash for you. There are far, far, far more white Americans to the power of likely 50X or more who grew up picking cotton for mere survival than any other race, creed or color in these United States of America. That is the current white folks in the south, Texas and Oklahoma's legacy. Not any other. A family of 8 plus parents we were and all but Dad picked it for other folks for $2.00 a hundred and $1.50 pulled late in the season then my poor ole Mom went up and down the side of the road gathering it out of ditches where it blew off cotton trucks. My dad had 2 to 3 jobs so no he wasn't around til way after dark. So I'm proud to be called any sort of cotton picking whatever! I and my brother went into the service and then grad college on the GI bill and another retired from there.

We were desperately poor but didn't understand how bad since many others were just as bad off. And except for the town doctor and the Ford and Chevy dealers and the local mobsters who burnt buildings and collected and strong armed and did insurance jobs....everybody was dirt poor.

I ain't impressed!

My dad grew cotton in the late 40s. I have picked my share. Thank God he gave it up. I hated it.

But the term cotton-pickin was just a universal perjoritive for distasteful. Absolutely no racial inference at all ever. This is another example of made-up shite.
