How is it solely on Putins shoulders?
Putin has literally said out loud several times the things he would consider as provocative to him and his country.
Whether you think it's rational or not isn't the real question. The real question is "do you feel lucky?"
He said out loud what would happen. And we didnt listen for over 20 yrs. We kept poking the bear. And some of this goes even further back than that.

How long are you going to throw a stupid typo in my face. I mean damn I have seen 2nd graders with more maturity than you. This is like the 3rd time you have brought it up. Let it go man we are not in second grade. Show some maturity. The next thing you will be asking me to do is pull your finger.
I think I’m just as qualified as you are probably even more so since I’m not supporting a thug and killer. This isn’t a very hard problem to solve. Putin is at fault here. He invaded another country. He violated international laws and norms. I don’t need to watch 1 single video to tell me all that. Putin is a war criminal that should be put on trial and then put to death.

Russia agreed to:
1.Respect Belarusian, Kazakh and Ukrainian independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.
Refrain from the threat or the use of force against Belarus, Kazakhstan or Ukraine.
2.Refrain from using economic pressure on Belarus, Kazakhstan or Ukraine to influence their politics.
3. Seek immediate Security Council action to provide assistance to Belarus, Kazakhstan or Ukraine if they "should become a victim of an act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear weapons are used".
4. Refrain from the use of nuclear arms against Belarus, Kazakhstan or Ukraine.
5. Consult with one another if questions arise regarding those commitments.
Ukraine is an independent state it has the right to seek closer ties with the west and not be a Belarus.
