Not a single dem running has a plan to lower it or even address it.

In fact, the opposite is true. They all are proposing new programs and plans, yet their funding proposals are inadequate.

To vote against trump and for the dem in 2020 in the name of deficits/debt is preposterous. You'd had to vote third party.

In fact, bernie and warren want to EXPAND social security.

In this environment no incentive whatsoever exists for anyone to talk about the deficit

In December 2017 this board was filled with resident Dems and "moderates" who suddenly started to care about the deficit. The same folks who want universal healthcare and environmental spending/taxes.

yep. We live in a world where everyone wants free shite and who ultimately pays that bill doesn’t matter. An adult running for office on a platform of fiscal conservatism would have to admit that they’re going to reform entitlements and that would submarine any candidate, including a very popular Donald Trump. There’s simply not a demand to limit the deficit.

And there never will be until we suffer the consequences for it. It’s a terrible political policy to run on.

You are 100% correct. Those of us who care about this issue will have to focus upon other issues next year.

Likewise, they are proposing massive reductions in CO2 emissions while simultaneously advocating for massive immigration from low-CO2 emitting countries.

Actually, I think the Dims can raise the revenue to pay for their utopia, they all need to be at a +80% tax rate and the rest of us will pay a sensible tax rate and continue to give money to the charities of our choice.

Its over. No matter who is elected. Too much entitlement (mandated, and politically unviable to cut) and debt service to ever balance the budget again. It will never happen.

The debt is one of my primary voting interest. Neither the Rs or Ds are going to address the topic at all. I’ll vote Libertarian again.

Obama took debt that took 230+ years to accumulate and doubled it in 8 years.
He did this on purpose to destroy the country.
He is, and has always been a slimy, anti American communist. The fact that more people can't see this is amazing.

There's not a libertarian candidate in existence with the balls or ability to cut social programs.

The Rs lost their spine decades ago when it came to social programs and now it is as you say. Both sides will never cut it, so we're just going to have to go deeper into debt.
