The people there are the most pleasant and welcoming people you could meet. I have been there, and you can't pass someone in the countryside who doesn't give you a warm hello.
The country itself is a mess with a ton of problems.
The US was built on people coming from sh*tholes all across the world trying to make a better life. If you have family roots from Italy or Ireland or Eastern Europe your family came from the sh*thole of Europe.

Same thing could have been said about the countries from which 15 million European immigrants came thru Ellis Island.
What was the redeeming quality of Ireland in 1892 that made over 3.5 million of them flee their shithole to America?

Two of my brothers went to Haiti, with a group of businessmen, following the earthquake. They had to hire machete carrying thugs to stop other machete carrying thugs from attacking and robbing them.
The one interesting observation they came back with, other than the place is a shithole, is that there are hundreds of abandoned chicken farms throughout the country.

As a LEGAL immigrant from Eastern Europe, I have no problem with acknowledging that it's a miserable corner of the continent. But that's probably because I'm not a regressive who moans and whines when the truth hurts. The POTUS can call it whatever he wants.

I spent a week in the DR last summer. Dominicans hate Haitians with a passion. I've never experienced such "racism" before.
I even had a dude at the hotel explain it to me.
It was pretty sick. If you have dark skin in the DR, you aren't getting a good job.
But still, Haiti is such a shithole, Haitians will try to get to the DR so they can at least have a job. They'll tolerate that much hate just to get out of Haiti.
Think about that.
So yeah, shithole.

Wife sat across from an accomplished Haitian accountant yesterday who is fluent in multiple languages. A person who embodies professionalism.
Yet, we don't need/want Haitians......fucm. Amirite?
